This is incredible. Keep it up. These are by far the best quality photos I've seen of these eras. Really brings them to life.
Thanks. I'm getting close to the end of scanned photos. I have hundreds more not yet scanned. I have them somewhere around here😯

This is probably my best shot of Magoo. I have a lot of pics of him. He raced the tracks i raced and he was always showboating for the spectators. Nobody has mention it so I assume it hasn't been noticed. The seat is missing on his bike. The gas tank is a accessory ($$$$$) tank. It might have been a prototype. Anyway the seat holds the tank down. So when he lost the seat the tank started bouncing around. So Danny pulled into the pits and his mechanic Billy taped it down. I don't remember if he won or not. There were some 125 aces there that day, Danny Laporte, Bruce McDougal, etc.

Don Sandretto. This is the track at Mammoth Bar by Auburn Ca. This track was sick!!! Sometimes they'd run the straightaway right down the beach at waters edge.

These are from Mammoth Bar. I only got to race there once. It got shut down to moto not long after these pics. They had observed trials events there for year after that. I rode about 6 of those.

WOW Man THANKS for sharing! Love seeing pics I've never seen before. I watched my first Moto-X in 78, wish I could've got into it earlier but I was 11. Just something really cool about 70's Moto and I dig the history of the sport. Some great pics! Really enjoyed the Keith Bowen, Alan King, and Darrell Schultz👌By chance have any Donnie Cantaloupi and Jim Gibson pics? I met Magoo and Schultz walking the track at Red Bud 82' on Saturday (and Jeff Ward & Goat Breker later at a diner) they were all super cool to this starstruck snot nosed punk kid. Still have all they're autographs from my little notepad.

Sorry but I'm pretty sure none of Cantaloupe or Gibson. Gibson was gone before I start shooting and I was gone when Cantaloupe was racing.

Photos taken at Red Bud. Early 80’s. Not the best quality and sure I have some more somewhere. Taken by a 16 or 17 yr old kid just trying to capture his favorites

Sweet! I never got to any Mid America or east coast races. Always wanted to but never did. The tracks were different out there. The moto freaks out here would get all excited for tracks like Red Bud or Unadilla, etc. We'd have to wait for Cycle News to appear at the shop, usually on Thursday. Eventually Carlsbad and later Unadilla made it to TV. Remember announcer Sam Posey and his, "knobally tires"?

There were so many tracks out here in Cali. It was crazy (good). There was a club in Novato that put on a race once a year. It was on private property and the track was friggin' rock and roll! I remember a drop-away that landed in a creek bed. It was sex!

Not sure, but I think it might have been a D36 AMA race. I’m pretty sure I saw it in the back of Cycle News where we usually found races back then. I remember walking the track in morning and seeing that drop off into the creek and thinking, oh fuck!
