Did anyone else think they sounded pathetic on the webcast? I don't understand the fascination with that sound. There are times when they sound cool to me, but overall they sound like a bunch of bees in a tin can. LAME.

It's a shame the 4-strokes will never match the power of a 2-stroke with that awesome sound they have. LMAO. (sarcasm alert) IMO a 4-stroke is loud and slow compared to a 2-stroke.

Well, okay, they DO sound like a fart in a tunnel but they just put the power to the ground waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

Four strokes sound angry and two-strokes sound like buzzing bees.

Did you hear the sound Josh Grant's bike made as he railed that sweeping right hander today? I'm talking about the turn that's about 2-3 turns before that little step-down over the "Lucas Oil" banner thing. He'd rail the outside just pinned in 3rd (I think).

Two stroke riders only dream of doing that. They'd hit the berm in the middle somewhere, brake slide into it, pivot, and then sling shot out of the corner. Powerband is too short to rail a berm like that.

LMAO!!! That depends on how long you've been involved in mx. You, obviously, haven't been around it for very long.

Four strokes started this shit in the 50s and dominated the scene for the first 20 years or so. Two strokes, on the other hand, are nothing but a passing phase in the grand scheme of things. Now, four strokes are back where they rightfully belong (dominating mx).

your forgetting one thing here.

the character of mx!

slipping the clutch on a 250 or 500 2 stroke, the smell of the premix, the rear ends stepping out, the fans going mad, and the braaaaaaaaaaap braaaaaaaaaaap of the big jump.

come on, tell me you dont miss that.

Four strokes sound like hot rods, 2 stroke sound cool too, but I find the smaller displacements to be rather annoying at times. Like a pack of bees or a mosquito.

One thing I definitely LOVE about 2-strokes is the smell of premix. NOTHING like that in the world. No doubt about that.

You obviously haven't been around MX very long. Ever rode a 500 2-stroke? I didn't think so. ONCE AGAIN- give the 2-stroke a similar displacement and there is no way the 4-strokes stand a chance. If the 4-strokes are so awesome, how come they have to a have a double displacement advantage? Simple question really- let's hear your answer.

Oh then lets all ride big top heavy valve floating pieces of shit so we dont have to shift as often.

If it was a right hander, he may have grabbed a gear anyways.

The short powerband on the 2 stroke is the beautiful thing about it. It takes talent to make one sing and dance. Sounds like you never had any.

When the CZ's, Huskys and Maicos started to dominate the 4-strokes in the late 60's they also were half the size of the Beezers and Trumpets. When they developed into 360's. 400's, etc. the game was OVER. Just as it would be now. Can you image running a 125 4-stroke against a 250 2-stroke? Would that be fair? That's what's happening now to the 2-strokes.

HaHa, doesn't sound like bullpen has a answer to the double displacement advantage. Don't worry, no one else does either.

Watch James Stewart on a 125 and tell me you can't rail a berm like that! Wake up dude, the only reason as mentioned before the 4stroke tool over was because they got a 100% displacement advantage

The answer is easy, money makes the rules. Factories have the money, they make the rules.

I honestly would rather ride a 250F than a 250 two-stroke. I would be all for making things equal. I say go ahead and allow equal displacement.

Some people may choose the 250 over the 250F but do you honestly think anyone would ride a 450 two stroke over a 450F? LMAO!!! I've ridden an open class two-stroke and they are ridiculous to try to ride. You have to short-shift it and lug it around or it'll loop out on your ass. No contest there.

The 2-strokes haven't been developed the way the 4-strokes have. Give them direct injection and calm the things down a little bit to match the LOWER Hp number of an equal sized 4-stroke and it would have a similar power band of a 4-stroke without the weight and complexity.

OMG! You sound EXACTLY like my old man and his riding buddies, except that was how they'd talk about four strokes. My entire life I had to listen to those old men flap their lips about how "if they'd put a four stroke engine into a two stroke frame with two-stroke suspension" that they would have the fastest bike known to man. I grew up riding two-strokes and always thought they were just living in the past until 1998 when I saw and heard the YZ400F for the first time. Turns out they were right!!!!

Maybe you are too!!!!???? LMAO!!!! You probably are.

New riders will be faster and better on a 4strole they are easier to ride no doubt. Put someone who has a little expierence riding on an equal displacement 2stroke, there's no way that the 4 will be better

2 strokes kick ass. The biggest thing I noticed at Red Bud was that they are half as loud as 4 strokes.
RC was throwing some nice whips over Larocco's.
Stanton - not sure how old he is but he still has damn good speed. wow..

Yea I probably am right. LOL. Truly I love 4-strokes it just kind of burned my butt that they had to give them the massive displacement advantage. I truly do love the sound of a 2-stroke better though. JMO. It's all good as long as it has 2-wheels.
