If you go into Seattle, this is probably the one thing that I would recommend. Most other things can be experienced at any other city just as well.

There's also the Hendrix gravesite memorial, but that's really not a big deal.

Pike Place Market is better in the morning if you go there.

Pike Place Market is cool. Metropolitan Grill, Daniel’s Broiler, or Ruth’s Chris if you want good (although pricey) steaks. Lots of local restaurants depending on what part of Seattle you’re in.

Depending on where you’re at, know up front that the city is full of homeless-related BS and people who believe there are no laws, because in Seattle there might as well not be.

I used to semi-regularly go to Pike Place to wander around and pick up some seafood for cooking a weekend dinner. Haven’t been in awhile but the last time, the area around it was a mess of homeless-related smells and problems.

Thanks for all the info. Quite the culture shock coming from the coast of North Carolina. Honestly, we had a great time. Met some really great people, and the scenery is spectacular. We are definately more conservative than most of the folks here, but that's OK. It was good to get out and see how the.other half lives. Two thumbs up for Seattle.
Guess I'm gonna have to go to Washougal next year. Thanks again.

I’m from the eastern side of the mountains, where most of the vote goes to the right. When I visited Seattle, or during the 5-6 years I lived in the Seattle area, I could never really tell how the vast number of people voted or their political leanings. Obviously the elections told the overall story of leanings as a group, but individuals were a completely different story.

Not to start a ‘one side against the other’ thing, but what happened over just a couple of days that there was such an apparent difference of conservatism?

Was it stuff that doesn’t really indicate leanings, like clothing style, haircuts, or what? I’m just wondering if preconceived notions may play a part.

Again, not saying that you are ‘wrong’ but coming from what would be considered a ‘red’ area like ours I just never see all that much evidence of a person’s political leanings when I go to ‘blue’ areas like that. The other crazy thing is that when you get outside of the heaviest populated areas of Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Tacoma, and maybe Everett the leanings seem to be a lot more to the right, at least at the ballot box.

I just spent two weeks in seattle. I was there for work but got the chance to race washugal for the top gun event. That was probably the most fun I have had racing in a long time. Such a great track, beat the crap out of me but well worth it. Seattle on the other hand I was not a fan of. I did some tourist stuff while there and got lucky on weather. Only "misted" twice, but those days were depressing. I went to a bunch of small towns, some of my favorites were bermington and Enumclaw.

No difference of conservatism at all. Just a few days in the incredible Pacific Northwest. Sure, Seattle smells like piss, weed, and Prius farts, but so does every big city I've been to. Spent much more time on Bainbridge Island with my son, a United States Marine. Mt. Rainer, the ferries, the Seattle skyline at night were all amazing. I even managed to squeeze in a little protesting. It was the only 20 minutes I didn't wear a mask. I hate the mask, but I will wear it if that is what it takes to pitch in. Seems like a small thing to do. I'm back in NC now, without a mask, piss, smells, or Prius farts. It still smells like weed though. Thanks Washington dispensary. Oh yeah, yall sell liquor in the grocery store, now thats amazing.

That alcohol in retail, instead of a state run liquor store has been quite the boondoggle. Everybody voted for it, knowing that basic retailers would be able to sell it cheaper than the state could.

6 or 7 years later, a lot of people probably wish they could revote that one.
