Hunter is a a Good luck charm it seems.

I'd be interested to hear from the F1 experts here about the incident. I'm not huge into F1 so don't really understand the etiquette etc...

I thought Max's race was pretty much done with their very slow pit stop, but that sealed the deal. I think it was just a racing incident. No one backed off and unfortunately that was the end result.

That pit stop could've been timed with a sun dial. Grinning

The good news is the championship fight is still very close.

max got penalized
3 place grid penalty
not suprised , double standards all over once again
Lewis in same situation with Norris , gave him all the room needed to race and took the spot
max does same and lewis shuts door and Max is to blame
Lewis took max out in Silverstone in a way that was really dangerous and got 10 sec and now this ?

why not give Lewis his 9th title , let him retire as the so called GOAT and we get back to racing

Holy macaroons what craziness. Awesome awesome for McLaren and DR3. So pumped to see it. As for the incident…. I normally would say it’s your typical racing incident. But, it just seems that Lewis has been squeezing in on max pretty heavily this year and not giving room. Not sure how he got away with not giving a car width in the turn and max gets hit with a grid penalty.

Max getting penalized is bullshit in my opinion. He'll have another grid penalty at some point for the power unit change they'll have to make.

Hamilton is also facing a grid penalty at some point like Bottas did today, but as we saw Bottas came from 19th to 3rd.

What does Red Bull do? Change it now and hope for the best, or take the 3 place grid penalty and another grid penalty at a later race?

The next race is in Russia in 2 weeks.

By the looks of it, it's going to start at the same time as Race 2 of MXdN (MX2 & Open) and finishes just before Race 3 (MXGP & OPEN) starts.

Guessing not many of you will be tuning in to the MXdN seeing as the US/Puerto Rico aren't sending teams.

Does Mazespin finish his home Grand Prix? Grinning

How they penalize Max is beyond words. Can they appeal? Horner is usually all over that kind of thing. Such bullshit.

Wow, what a race.

This rivalry is becoming so heated, this is Senna/Prost stuff now. Great for us fans

My take on the incident is that it was a racing incident, I dont think Max should have been penalized. but i also find it very rich that he complains about Lewis not leaving enough space.
Max did the exact same thing to Lewis at the start of the race.

Max has the faster car at the moment, if he wants to win this championship, he needs to start picking his battles better, he does not need to win every single corner.
Because even if you are technically right (ala silverstone) it doesnt mean shit if you are sitting in the barriers.
He is the most aggressive driver by a mile, he cant complain when it gets given back.

I am fairly certain they are going to hit a couple more times this year

Final thought.....jesus I am sick of hearing both guys whinge though, they are both the whiniest drivers on the radio.

From what I gathered from Horner is miscomnincation about the right front being right.
The gun guy gives it another go at the end, but he looked satisfied after he initially ran the nut on.

It looked like someone questioned it.

That has to be it. Front right wheel man didn’t lock it down until he was instructed to do so. How does that even happen in a F1 pit where there is no multitasking?
9/12/2021 11:41pm
It was a racing incident, but it easily could have been avoided if Verstappen had backed out and went over the kerb like Hamilton has done multiple times this year. But we've seen that Verstappen would prefer to have a crash than back out.

Each wheel gun mechanic has to push a button when they've tightened the nut. This activates a green light for the chief mechanic to see, and when all four lights are showing green the car can be released. The system used to be automatic, but was changed back to manual a few years ago at the instruction of the FIA. The guy on the front-right forgot to push the button and had to be reminded to do it.

(This was explained in the post-race show ('Ted's Notebook') on Sky F1. Ted Kravitz, the pit-lane reporter, had got the details from Christian Horner.)

If you are alongside another driver and the next corner places you on the inside you do not back out. Hamilton didn’t give the car width that you are supposed to give. Lewis kept crying(per usual) about the first lap incident. The stark difference is the positioning of each driver. Lewis was completely boxed out, where as max had half the car length in the apex of the corner.

The coolest part is that Lewis knows he will be beat this year. It’s taking everything from Mercedes including Bottas to stay in the race, while Max is simply winning on his own.

Absolute rubbish, the only difference in the scenarios is that Hamilton will pick his battles and abort like he did at Imola instead of having a crash whereas verstappen just parks his car on top of his opponent instead.

I really really don't like either of them and I hope Russell beats them both next year while they spend another season playing bumper cars. But my money is still on Hamilton by seasons end.

Pick his battles? Silverstone must have been “picked” with certainty of a DNF.

It is visible that Lewis is frustrated. His driving used to be robotic, now he is much more aggressive because he is the slower driver. Mercedes has had a leg up with their car for years.

As for next year? If anyone is going to continue to improve it will be Norris in the mix more often. I can see Russell doing very very well.

I just hope Mclaren keeps the progress up with the new rules, it's great to see them doing so well.

The regs change could really shake things up next year. Even Haas might improve, which would be hilarious seeing the absolute carnage marzispin would cause in a midfield car.

Lol those are some true words regarding HAAS. All of that money spent by them to just embarrass themselves almost every weekend.

This years performance was planned from the start, zero development when into the car, its basically last years car with a new floor. All efforts are concentrated on next years car.

Well aware of the “plan”. I’m actually talking about the driving by both drivers. Imagine if they make a hell of a car next year? Similar to them copying the Mercedes from before this year and the results simply are horrid. I can’t say I wouldn’t be surprised.
