Nope- the bike was complete when I bought it.

I've spoken with Varner a few times with various questions on the engine since then. He's been totally cool about giving me advice on jetting.

I was just quoted 7999 on a new KTM. OTD price retail plus fees. I don't live in communist California though.

I too was going to buy a new KTM 125 or 150 this year. But after realizing that it was going to cost me around $10,000, it no longer became an option. No friggin way am I ever going to pay that much for a dirt bike.

So I called Tony Allessi and asked him if Mikey had any spare 125's he would be willing to sell. Tony hooked me up with one of Mikey's YZ125 race bikes for waaay less than $10,000.

The engine was built by Varner. It's a 134 with the zero inertia crank and a few other Varner specialties. Holy crap is all I can say! Varner has been building my 2-strokes since the early 90's, and his work has always been amazing. But I would say that this is most impressive 2-stroke engine I have ever ridden. A mid-range monster. I ride this bike a gear higher everywhere on the track. And on starts, I am 1/2 way down the start straight before the 450's begin to catch me. And I have yet to find a 125 or 150 that can out accelerate this bike.

My point is that for around 1/2 the price of a new bike, you can buy a used YZ125 and have Varner build the engine. You'll end up with a much stronger running 125 for 1/2 the money.
ha ha ha. guess you haven't kept up with the varner threads.

Always question "fees"

I sold bikes for 2 years way back when, and we would make up fees, or over-inflate delivery and assembly costs, just to make bigger margins on sales. I had to quit- couldn't lie anymore.

I used to buy my race bikes from Canada after that. Didn't care about registration, and never had an issue selling with just a BOM. But it now appears that Canadian prices have been jacked up and this is no longer a viable option. a new KTM 125 as of today would be $7,834, then you'd still have to pay shipping.

I don't really pay attention to internet gossip. All I care about is my personal experience with him- and it has always been good. I've never had an issue.

I went to the local dealer today where i know everyone and was talking to one of the salesman, of course they don’t have any ktm 125s but on the spot he figured up how much it’d cost me if i went through them. All said and done, no discounts i’d be out the door at 8,800. The dealer i was in discussions with was out the door at 9,400. Now obviously they have them they can ask what they want for them but I can’t bring myself to pay the msrp for a 250sxf on a 125. My local shop currently haven’t been informed by Yamaha when they’ll be able to order any new 125s or receive any but as soon as they get info we’ll be the first people they call for a deposit. So we’ll be waiting on the call unless we find a dealership that can get us out the door at 8800$.
