I bought a 2005 kx125 about a month ago the dude had just thrown on a lectron it took me a while to get the bike running right I cleaned air filter changed the spark plug changed the oil and coolant and tuned the lectron, well finally I got the bike running good, so I have been riding my bike around the neighborhood just to get a good feel for it, well yesterday evening I went to take the bike for a spin and I got to the stop sign at the end of my street and the bike died, I kicked it probably 15 times and the bike wouldn’t give so I brought the bike back to my house and made sure I had enough gas and made sure everything was good, I decided to let the bike sit for an hour and I came back started up the bike and it did the same thing, started initially and then died when I stopped and wouldn’t restart, and it continues to do that today and I have no idea what to do. I’ve contacted lectron they’ve provided little to no help IM SUPPOSED TO GO RIDING THIS WEEKEND PLEASE HELP!!!

Fuel, air, spark, compression. Check all four.

If it was running properly before this incident. you can rule out the carb tuning (unless there are bolts falling out of the carb or something.)

That leaves the things that can wear out or change rapidly: Fuel runs out (no, according to you,) rings wear down and lose compression, spark plug fouls, air filter is clogged. It could be that your bike is overheating, too: is there water in the radiators?

I just replaced the coolant, cleaned my air filter, replaced the spark plug and there is spark. How do I tell if the bike is over heating? The bike doesn’t seem to hot to the touch when it dies. I’ve checked everything I know how to check this I basically my last cry for help before i just take the bike in to get it looked at.

Have you checked the fuel line to make sure there isn't a kink in it? I know it sounds stupid, but I've seen many people over look that area before.

Sounds like it could be one of three different things going on here.
1. Fuel starvation... Critters love to build homes in the carb vent hoses and if they do it will cut off the fuel flow.
You can test this by running the bike until it shuts down. Then remove the fuel cap and put it back on and see if it will now crank up. If it does then loosesn the cap and see if will continue to run. Remove each hose, clean and reinstall. This includes the fuel tank cap vent.

2. If could be that the ignition is breaking down as it get warm. Do an ohms test to the ignition coil on both the primary and secondary sides. If the primary side reading is low this will allow the coil to short out when warm and then when it cools off it will act ok again.

3. The stator could also break down with heat due to a bad insolated wire. Have it tested.

Ok, so the vent line and gas line were good. However I didn’t get my ignition coil off and tested it and my primary side was sitting at 0.7 ohms and my secondary was at 15k. So would my best bet be to replace the coil?
