It seems he will never get over it that's for sure and he was also losing positions right and left in that race so I don't think he has a strong mental game now either. Lots of speed and talent but weak in the mental part of racing. He needs to get his head straight or he will just fade away.
He faded away a long time ago.

Depression is no joke, I dealt with it heavily after getting hurt in 2014 and told I can never compete at the same level again.

I hope he deals with it in a real way.

If Joey truly is depressed, I hope he finds a way to get past it. It sucks, and it's not something easily fixed. That's no way to live.

I love all the Doctors here on Vital. Everyone thinks they know just what Joey should do, what's wrong, why things are what they are, etc. How about we just give him some positive and quit the arm chair analysis. Be well Joey, see you at the races.

Haha for sure.

Haha, this hangs in my house--a "Custer's Last Stand" print that Anheuser-Busch gave out to bars that they supplied beer to. Every time I see The Royal Tenenbaums I think of Eli Cash's book! When I was a kid I was fascinated by General Custer, America's patron saint of lost hope and foolish ambition, but now I just think the poster's history in beer marketing and rewriting Custer is the really interesting thing about it...

I grew up about 10 miles down the road from where Custer lost. He's not too well respected in that immediate area. Wink

Not mine, but he died for his own I'm sure... That and his hubris and relentless ambition. Like I said, our patron saint of lost causes and very bad ideas... I think that's why I was fascinated by his ultimate demise.

I guess I'm one of the people who thought the first post in this thread was bizarre....but now I see what it was in reference to.

Feel bad for the guy. ....but airing out your shit on social media isn't going to make it better. The sad thing is, people in the public eye are pretty much required to do this these days or be ostracized. Then when you do put yourself out there...you get shredded.

I remember an interview with him a while back where he said he hated social media and did not like putting his personal life out there. He needs to go back to that.

F***K social media, it's a mental illness. (...and yeah, I'm talking about the big dogs Farcebook/Twatter/IG etc)

I'd say that those that have "read between the lines" of what Joey is saying, but perhaps not saying, are all trying to offer compassionate words...not trying to be a moto-psychiatrist. Joey was under a TON of pressure as he sat in Tomac's shadow at Team Kawasaki, and never rose to the expectations of those who had them, then right as he was hyped as the stud of the JGR team...he gets pretty seriously hurt, and again never had the chance to meet team expectaions.. Stuff like that effects some people differently than others. I don't know anything about Joey...but I hope he gets things figured out, and if he needs it...gets the help he needs to be happy.
