History of bike - purchased from an owner which suggested maintenance was never kept up with. I needed to take the rear wheel off to put a new tire on and immediately began having issues with a frozen axle.
So I decided to replace the wheel bearings and polished the spacer. I polished the axle and cleaned the threads. Bearings (2 on sprocket side 1 on brake side) and spacer installed well with the spacer "floating" appropriately. I tried to install the axle into sprocket side and it appears to be getting stuck once it reaches the second bearing.
If you install the axle from the opposite end, it goes through fine until it reaches the same bearing.
I've seen conflicting opinions regarding applying force to the axle to push through the resistance of the bearing under the auspice that they need to be "broken-in." on the other hand, I imagine this could damage the thread of the axle with ease.
Opinions please. Thanks for the help.

Replace that bearing. Test all new bearings on the axle before installing them in the hub.
