Recently purchased a 2021 Honda 450, put approximately an hour and a half on the bike with no real issues, I did notice a rich dirty feeling but nothing major so I sent the ecu to Twisted Development for them to re map it. Apparently this re map cleaned all of that up, heard that from Keefer and some other industry people.

Anyways I get the ecu back and go ride with it on Twisted maps for about another 1.5 hours of use and it fouls a plug and will not start. I called Twisted and they tell me it has nothing to do with their remap and it is likely an injector problem. Twisted did mention they have another 2021 in their shop that they are working on and they were going to keep me posted on what they learn.

Is anyone else fouling plugs on their 2021???

I don’t even want to ride the bike anymore because I’m worried it will foul again and send me endoing off a jump. If I can’t get this straightened out soon and can regain some trust in my machine I’m going to have to buy another bike all together.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Very strange for modern 4 stroke to foul a plug. Picture of plug and type of fuel would be helpful. I have had great luck with Twisted maps. I have heard of earlier CRFs having problems with the coolant temperature sensor causing the ECU to be rich. Might check that wiring.

Clean injector and also check TPS setting. dirty injector can cause it to leak when it should be closed weather running or not and a TPS that is set incorrectly or not working correctly can cause a fuel delivery to be rich or lean at different openings of the throttle.

That’s the second one I’ve heard about that fouled a plug.

my roomate has the 2021 450RX he races Hare scrambles with out here in the East (WV). He's fouled 3 plugs and another person has fouled 8 since new.

We've been told when you fire the bike, blip the throttle to 3000 RPMs...doesnt seem logical to me. I've checked with Honda for any service bulletins and none exist as of yet. Hoping to find a fix soon.

This is like the umpteenth 2021 CRF 450 to foul a plug. If I was to say they have an issue I will be labeled a honda bash-er.

Have you gone to a dealer and gotten Honda’s free reflash?

Trying to figure out why my buddy’s 2024 with maybe an hour on it fouled a plug?
