Woods riding near Houston

A little outside of Houston, but if you don’t find anything closer, just outside Austin, Spoaks MX and Murphy’s MX both have trails to ride.

A bit of a drive north of you, but Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer TX has a 30ish mile single track loop.

Sam Houston National forest and Sterling Ranch.

You will need a sticker to ride in the Forest, you can get them from Cycle Shack North on the way up there. Not expensive ($8?)but I believe you have to pay with cash.

I think Three Palms still has it's woods track and so does Rio Bravo.

Noting at 3 palms anymore. Sam Houston Forest or Sterling ranch are good

Sam Houston National Forest Multi Use Trail System. Before visiting, please call the Ranger’s Office at 936-344-6205 or 888-361-6908 and select option 2 for trail status. If it rains enough, the trails close, and its rained frequently in recent days. You'll need a National Forest Sticker available at Cycle Shack North and you'll pay $5 cash in a drop box when parking at the forest. Trail heads are Eastside, Westside, and Kelly's Pond.

Sterling Ranch is good but the trails are blown out. Sterling is a mix of red clay, roots, and sand. Lots of racing and riding on the same trails for years has made them rough.

If your'e attending SX lock up your bikes at the stadium. Don't mess around and really secure those babies.
