I am thinking about racing the Snowshoe GNCC in '21 and making it a weeklong trip by including the GNCC University the few days before the race. I have never been to the Snowshoe race before but since I would be staying in a hotel, bike storage for the week seems complicated to say the least.

Has anyone attended the University before and if so, do they provide bike storage alongside the meals, room and board, etc. I travel to my local races with all gear and bikes in the pick-up and this would be the first race trip that required overnight accommodations so I need to plan accordingly.

If not, I guess the other option is to find a car wash at the end of everyday to clean the bike and roll it into the hotel room on the hush.

Yes it starts on the street, kind of a throwback to the old blackwater days.

I snowboard a lot there...as far as a GNCC goes...that shit has got to be INTENSE. I can't even imagine how rooty and rutted it gets. It'd be an accomplishment for sure!

Best advice is to get a room in one of the lodges that have indoor garage parking. Rimfire and The Seneca both have garages that you can only get in with a hotel key. It's all very safe, and if you're worried at all a disc lock, or lock and chain is enough additional security. It would be a real struggle to get your bike into a hotel room due to the way the resort is built. Some of the condos also have their own garage but they're bit more expensive.

I'm one of the guys who lays out the GNCC tracks and also run sweep all weekend. I've had my bike sitting outside of my room (staff stays in different lodging just past the village) overnight on several occasions and it's never been an issue. I've also ridden dual sports down to Snowshoe and spent the night. I just parked in the garage, put a disc lock on the bike and all was well. The thing to remember about Snowshoe is that it's in the middle of nowhere. The only people there are there for the race or are Snowshoe staff. And during the week leading up to the event for the GNCC University there are very, very few people around.

Since it's the middle of nowhere, you'll struggle to find a carwash, but there is a nice area where they let the GNCC University attendees wash their bikes. It's actually a paved area by the Ski Patrol building.

If it comes down to it and you can't find anywhere to store your bike, give me a shout at bolton@gnccracing.com and I can find somewhere for you.

That race is a tough as hell, be prepared for a major beat down... I raced it a few years ago, it started snowing before the start of the race! ... I think it was like June! I stayed at the resort another nite after the race, it was a good time👍

I will call today and figure out what lodging they will be putting us in and go from there but will keep you in mind if everything falls through. Thank you for the info and offer!
