Looking for an 79-81 yz 250 but will also consider 79 400 or 81 465. West coast a plus.

Shame you are on the west coast. I'm cleaning up my refreshed YZ 465 to list it shortly.

I raced this bike in our local harescramble series in 2019. Great bike just a pain with our dead engine start starts. Probably road it 12hrs that season and put a fresh .50 over topend on it mid season due to a pulled head stud.

Here is the info on the motor which has less than an hour since a lower end rebuild
Cut head mod
.50 cylinder with fresh rings for 2020
Rebuilt crank with Yamaha rod/bearings and seals
Yz490 clutch with once piece outer basket
Carburetor has been rebuilt and is tuned for the stock pipe and answer sparky silence
Chassis
Full strip and repaint before putting together for the 2019 season.
Just rebuilt the shock and added a fox twin clicker reservoir.
83 rubber mounted triple clamp for a more upright bar position.
Aluminum bars, msr perch and levers, cables new in 2019.
Forks are just serviced with new seals/oil and have the atk spring kit in them with 84 compression adjusters. Good for a 180lb rider.
Brake pads are recently ebc grooved pads.
Front tire is new as are the wheel bearings
Rear has a few races on it but got bearings at that time.
Bike is well sorted but I just don't ride it.
It's a racer so it has some scratches and is far from perfect. I used a Yamaha bolt kit in the refresh but don't expect them to look like 81 fasteners.
Front and rear is Yamaha plastic, side panels are Maier number plate is DC.
Seat was recovered recently but the foam wasn't the best so you can see some variation when you get closer towards the tank. Personally I'd recommend a safety seat in the future as you tend to sit forward on the beast. KTM wide pegs too.
I just need to install the forks and apply new decals to the tank but here is an old picture from towards the end of the 2019 season.
I'm sure I missed something but like I said it's ready to go but isn't perfect.
I was going to list it at $2500

I think that's a really good price for a 465. Yeah 450exc? You'd put a safety seat on it? Myself in not a fan of after market safety seats. They look goofy to me. All that bike needs is tank stickers and a number 64 on the plates and I'd take it to the gate.

Max I only say safety seat because I found myself always sliding up on to the tank to increase the front wheel traction. More comfort for your junk than looks. I considered doing the full 82 tank, seat and side panel conversion if I was going to race it again. I'm hoping to have graphics on the tank this weekend. Smile
