Why is this not a more widespread mod? I have a 2003 cr250r and I've done everything but spending 250 on an oversized rotor kit.

I picked up a used KTM SX front MC on Ebay, bolted it up and bled the system. Holy Holy. What a difference in both feel and power.

It is common for people to switch the newer honda mc and brembo. Havent done it myself but have heard nothing but good things about doing it

For anyone interested in this there are two different size pistons used on the Brembo master cylinders. I forget which years/models were which size. But there are 9mm and 10mm size pistons. I "believe" the 2004-ish or older range had the 10mm pistons. Would need to verify this statement.

9mm - A bit softer feel feel at the lever, yet provides the highest braking pressure.
10mm - Much more solid/hard feel at the lever, provides slightly less pressure than a 9mm.

9mm vs 10mm statements are only true if the line is bled correctly! Smile

Plenty of used ones floating around on ebay that need a good scrub and possibly a lever. Happy hunting!

Pick yourself up this if you want brakes bled easily.

Yea, major difference from the 2003 Nissin unit.

I have no idea what year the MC I bought is. Honestly could care less at this point after this major $60 upgrade.

Imagine how the crf 2020 complete nissin front brake assembly does his job on a cr250.

Probably better? But the MC is $130, need to buy a lever, then a front hose (OEM is $100), then a caliper ($160) and bracket ($87) and all the hardware etc.

Im not trying to win a national, the stock MC was ok for everything but those 5% of situation where youre going way too fast into a turn. I think for $60 and having the ability to 1 finger stoppie and completely lock the front wheel this was a great improvement. Thats all Im saying.

That one looks nice, but this does exactly the same thing for half the price.

Yep, did it on mine too with a 2015 master cylinder. I really like it. Also working on something for the Brembo caliper and complete rear system 😉

Nice, looks like yours is significantly newer. Is there a major difference with the calipers? I honestly dont think I need the front any stronger. My back brake is pretty strong and will lock at will.

Yeah, I don't think think the caliper will add that much, most of it come from the master, but it more for the trick factor that I want to go full Brembo on my CR.

Did you use a KTM banjo bolt or the Honda?

Or just learning how to bleed brakes the old fashioned way; pump lever, release bleeder, close bleeder, release lever.
