Just finished changing the oil in my wife's Fiat 500. What a pain. My daughter has one also, so I get the privilege of changing the oil in both of them. It is as if the engineers purposely designed it to be as difficult as possible. The first time I did one of them, I literally couldn't find the oil filter. Had to look up the location on the internet. The drain for the oil pan is directly above a cross brace, so the oil runs all over the place unless you put some kind of trough over the brace to guide the oil.
Makes me wonder if they are intentionally designing them to be such a pain that people will take the car to the stealership for any and all maintenance.
The '04 Volkswagen, and the '07 'Benz that we had were also a real pain.
With older rigs, an oil change is usually about a 15 minute job.

Come to find out, it’s actually designed to have the used oil to be pulled out through the dipstick tube, like you do in a boat.
Our local Walmart auto centers have transitioned to doing all of their oil changes this way. I was told that it’s because they were having to replace a huge number of oil pans because they couldn’t help but cross thread the things when putting the drain plugs back in.
reinstall.
