Can’t find a works pipe for my ‘02 CR125 build anywhere! Only platinum pipes! Fancy doing this to a brand new PC platinum pipe for me? I’ll pay of course! Smile

I've just had a look on Ebay and there is a seller "cghimports" who seems to be selling a works pipe and silencer combo for the 02-04 CR125. You can choose either the shorty silencer or normal silencer.
I bought a PC pipe off them last year for my TC125 with no issues. If you haven't already bought a platinum pipe that might be your best option.

I have no issue doing it for you but just thought I'd let you know that's an option too.

I’ve seen that mate, I contacted them and they don’t actually have it in stock. I don’t know why it’s still listed for sale if they don’t even have it in stock! Haha..I’ve just contacted them again just incase there has been a change in stock!

Hey man what are the bolts like in the Bolt engine fastener kit? Nickel plated?

They’re good and yea nickel plated. I’ve sent all the other bolts off the bike to get nickel plated so will see how the compare once they’re done.
For the price and convenience of the Bolt kit I think it’s worth it.

Last night I finished assembling the engine, enjoy the photos!

I filmed the whole assembly and put a lot of effort to try and be able to make something really cinematic with the footage, I’ll spend the next view days editing and post it up here when complete. Hopefully it turns out as good as expected.

I finally finished editing the engine build video, here’s the link to it if any of you want to have a look, or want to subscribe Wink

2001 RM125 Engine Assembly

Aside from that I have stripped the suspension to send away the upper and lower tubes and the rear shaft to get coated. The shaft and lower tubes will be Ti-Nitride coated the rainbow green color and the uppers will be anodised.
Other parts of the shock and fork lugs will be cerakoted which I think I will do today.

I think it’s clear at this point that this isn’t a ‘tidy up and make profit’ bike. I think it will be for keeps if it turns out how I’m thinking it will.

Thanks man. Don't let the video fool you, I've got quite the range of hammers in my toolbox!
But I do take my time with building engines/suspension, etc.

Not a lot too update with the bike.
I collected the bolts that were left to be zinc plated, they turned out really good compared to how they were beforehand.

The suspension has also been coated so I’m waiting for that to be posted home. Should really give a factory look to the bike I think.

Unfortunately I write this update as I lay in a hospital bed. On the 11th July I had a very serious crash on my Husky 250 smoker and fractured my spine at T8,T9. Lost feeling from the waist down at the moment of the crash. I went through 6 hours of surgery the following day and did regain some feeling in my legs, although faint.
In the past I never thought I would be able to go through something like this but now that I’m in it I have been nothing but positive, but have a mindset that I will do everything in my power to get back to how I was before the crash. I go completely over the top with everything I do and the results show so why should this be any different?

Once I’m back home I will continue with this bike build as I am excited to get it finished (and I always need to be kept busy lol). So there might not be anymore updates for a month or 2 but after that it will be full steam ahead.

Sorry to hear man. My friend just fractured a couple vertebrae and still has very little movement if any below the waist. Very scary things. Get healthy my man.

Thanks for the support guys. Hopefully it won’t be long until I’m back to good health and posting more updates on this bike.

Small update,
Now that I’m out of hospital I’ve started gathering some fancy parts and general stuff to finish the build.
Some carbon and a pair of Ti footpegs have arrived so far.
I’m waiting on some bits to arrive from Racetech (gold valves etc) so I can assemble the suspension.

I’ve got my rims back from powder coating but Im not sure if they are yellow enough so I haven’t laced them yet. I might just buy a pair of Excel rims. Although at that point I could just buy a full set of wheels. Will post a pic of the rims for your opinions.

I want to make sure all parts are there so I can do an assembly vid of the bike similar to the engine assembly vid above.

Anyway, here’s a few pics.

Where did you get those pegs? Been looking for a nice set for my 01 without luck.

KTM footpegs fit the Suzuki so I've gone with those. I'll double check they fit later before you commit to a set.

From what I am remembering the KTM pegs work on the 03 and up RM's. The 01 and 02 pegs are different. Hope that's not the case and those pegs you have work!!

Ok I’ve had a look and you’re right they aren’t a direct fit. But with a little bit of work to the frame they will fit. The only thing I need to do now is reshape the spring to make it work like the oem.
I also need a longer footpeg pin but the ktm pin should work there too.

Edit: excuse the first upside down pic, don’t know why my phone keeps uploading like that.

Finally started to assemble the bike. It was really frustrating at first to realise how hard even the simplest tasks are for me now since my injury but after taking a breather I decided there’s no rush with any of it and it’s actually become enjoyable taking my time and just making it work.

My Racetech order finally arrived so next up will be to Cerakote the shock body and fork lugs then assemble the suspension. Pretty keen to get into that.

Hey dude,

I'm building an 06 and when I measure the distance of the crank from the water pump side crankcase it's a different dimension (1mm) from the magneto side crankcase. 1.3mm

Did you happen to measure both sides of your crank relative to the crankcase walls?
Do you or anyone else know if the crank should sit equidistant between the walls?

Photo for context.

Thanks!

I didn’t measure mine but honestly I wouldn’t be worried about .3mm. If the crank was dead tight to 1 side I would worry. There is side to side movement with the piston on the gudgeon pin so it wouldn’t cause an issue there.
As long as it spins freely I’d say you’re good.
