I picked up a USWE Tanker 16 bag, got one for my riding buddy as well. Beautiful bag, great features but it’s the bounciest pile of turd I have ever strapped on. The whole point of the bag is to NOT be bouncy but with a full bladder and the normal shit you would throw in a day bag the pack is all over the place. Doesn’t fit well, straps seem too wide and it moves all over the place. I wear it over a TLD 5950 chest protector. My buddy is having the same issues. Am I doing something wrong here?

I wear the outlander and it’s the best fitting pack I’ve used. But mine is much smaller than the Tanker. When I pack my bag and fill with water it’s all tight in there. I weight 165lb and 5,9.

Is the stuff you pack and the water moving around?

Have you tried to adjust the straps for a tighter fit?

I don't see how you can properly wear them with a chest protector. The whole idea is that they fit tight.

Tons of people run them with a chest protector. Mine is tight. I think maybe the larger bags just don’t fit their concept and design well.

The outlander fits better. Seems the smaller bags stay more secure. I bought it as I wanted a day pack style bag that could hold more comfortably. I have a Klim hydro bag that I use for short rides or races. I have tried adjusting it many times. I am 175lb 5’11. Everything is tight inside. I’m gonna reach out to USWE and see if they have any advice. My normal Day pack is a Deuter Race X Air and the thing moves less than the USWE and it’s just a conventional MTB bag.

I have one and it fits great (with no chest protector) and doesn’t move around much at all.
I’ve been using the Ogio flight vest so I can carry enough tools / spares to help my friends. I rarely need them myself, but nothing sucks as much as not having what you need, out on the trails.

Honestly, I realize that lots of people use them with a chest protector, but the design of them is to wrap the body snug to keep it from bouncing around.

Are you just wearing an old school plastic chest protector?

TLD 5950 as mentioned in the first post. My buddy runs no chest protector and is ready to throw his in a ditch as well.

Sorry I'm not familiar with their model numbers. I would guess its just due to its size because I've had a few of the smaller setups with just a 1.5 liter or so bladder and nothing more but they always fit better with the under jersey protectors to me. I run a USWE fanny pack style one now and love it but not near enough volume for what you're looking for.

I appreciate the feedback. I will try some different strap adjustment combos and see if it gets better.

See the motorcycle?
What model?
Oh...uh, sure...it can’t be ridden, off-road, many miles away from the track that it rode the very same day (very fun sand track that dates back to Bob Hannah’s youth).
One of the more informed commenters in this thread took the riding photos. He’s more “Moto” than the vast majority of “Moto-Industry-Folk” I’ve met...well, even if he does wear FXR, he’s still pretty damn cool in my book!

I ride a lot of different shit. MX, Woods, hare scramble, hard Enduro....
I don’t ride with a pack at the MX track. For offroadraces I run a small hydro pack. For rides when I’m out all day riding extreme stuff I like a day pack.
Pics from the last 2 days of riding....

Some of these kids ain't got no KC66 in them. They're my favorite guys to watch at the track.

Your pics are pure awesomeness. Some good gnar to shake off those work-week cob webs.
Nice!
You might need to come on one of our Baja rides and "Get your Beach ON'.

Surprised you have enough time to comment again considering the abundance of off MX topics posted in this forum that you could be out policing right now😂🤦‍♂️

I run the Outlander 4 with a Astars A4 chest protector under my jersey down in Baja and it fits great! I think running the chest pro under the jersey helps a ton. Although the last big ride I decided to run my chest pro over the jersey with the bag and it still worked well, just not as flush as it normally is when I go under. Maybe try that and see if it doesn't bounce as much! And try adjusting it a little.

I can't remember the model uswe I have, but it's 3l + gear, figure 7kg ( 16 pounds ).
I run shirt then armor then uswe. It takes a bit to get the uswe right, it's like the shoulder straps are tighter than you'd expect coming from Camelback, higher on your chest.
I'd never go back, once you get it right it's a game changer ( I have fire extinguisher and tools in mine ).
Good luck 👍

i couldn’t agree with you more!!!

when you run the bag 1/2 full of water it feels fine. the smaller one that just holds a little bit of water works fine.

when the bag is loaded with 2.5 liter’s of water and a small amount of trail tools it bounces all over the place. the bag flops around and hits the back of my helmet.

i have Tanker 16 (blue with gorilla) as well and have it adjusted to fit me perfectly over my fox under-protector and it never bounces with a full bladder and at least 5 pounds of tools. i'm not sure how you have adjusted it, but i put mine to if it was any tighter it would be annoying. i'm not doing whoop trails with it, but more mountain single track enduro stuff like your pics.
