Weird issue with 2019 Ktm 350 sxf

I’ll cut right to it. In short the past few times I’ve gone riding, anytime I hit a large enough bump, but especially a jump, my bike cuts power, starts popping As well. On smooth surfaces like a street it runs seemingly normal. It consistently cuts out on jumps and most bumps that are large enough it’s very choppy power delivery. No mods except a slip on fmf exhaust. It’s not the mapping, I had the bike tuned for the slip of on by a reputable mechanic. However the bike is not rideable. What in the world is going on?

Sounds like a loose electrical connection or earth strap for the battery

Would this be caused if there was a loose connection to the kill switch or electric start switch?

Check the white plug behind the front number plate and the battery ground strap/subframe bolts. Lost subframe bolts can cause the ground to not have a solid connection. Definitely sounds like a loose electrical connection. Beyond the above mentioned, check all electrical connections and spark plug cap. I've also seen a spark plug actually break inside (no visible damage) and the bike would cut out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Funny you mention that, I had a subframe bolt drop out. Stupidly enough kept riding and didn’t think anything of it but I’m betting that was it. Bought some steel screws from Home Depot that were to spec. I need to hit a jump to know for sure but I bet that was it. Thanks for pointing that out. Will update when I know for sure

I had something identical happen to my 2013 KX250F a few years which turned out to be the ECU on the front stem had slipped out of the holder and had rubbed the wiring insulation through. Always rode fine on flats and most of the track but when I landed a jump ot hit a big bump the wires were contacting the top surface of the lower clamp causing electrical issues. Slim chance this is what your issue is but just worth mentioning

Thanks for the suggestions. Turned out it was a missing subframe bolt. Put a bolt back and it ran perfect

To eliminate this problem If you run single ground wire from batt terminal
straight to bolt that ground wires are bolted by coil It is a more positive ground
