Kickstart won't stay in

Edited Date/Time 7/17/2020 6:19am
Just started happening yesterday evening. When riding the kickstart will flail out after hard hits and get caught behind my leg. Could turn into a very bad situation. Here's a diagram, it is a 2016 125SX. What part would I replace? Should I just call Chaparral?

I think its a piece inside number 3. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Aftermarket kicker might be cheaper than OEM. Pretty sure I worked on a 50sx mini that was doing the same thing and that was what fixed it.

After doing some reading people are saying theres some stuff to pull apart in the kicker itself and clean and regrease.

There is a ball and a detent spring inside that do wear, but so does the shaft they ride in.

I just had the same problem, this was a Honda and I replaced a small spring and ball bearing. The ball bearing in the photo is too big. The shaft gets worn also like Paw Paw says.

Some bikes have a set screw you an tighten to adjust how easy it is to rotate the kickstarter.
