Yeah I know it's a semi spec racing series cuz everybody has the same chassis but this is a lot better racing and more fun to watch than Formula 1 right now. These last two races at Cota and Long Beach have been excellent. More passes in those races than whole season in Formula One.

Sayin' 150 passes at Barber, or was that COTA?

Either way, it's a great series. Herta is going to be a monster if he keeps his stuff together.

They have to work on qualies though, that's causing guys to have to come through, but it's kinda janky.

The bumping and banging and the the cars just keep going (for the most part) has been fun to watch. While I'm not sold on the passing button at least it gives the car in front a fighting chance vs being a sitting duck in drs zones.

No DR zone.
You get X amount of HP gain anywhere they want.

I.E. start with 100 seconds of "push to pass". Use if where you want.

Not sure what it gets them. 50-60 HP?

There’s obviously less funding and technology in Indy Cars. You are so right about being more competitive and entertaining than the premiere racing league in all motorsports, F1.

Road America is an Awesome track for car and bikes. I,ve been there the hills and especially the curves threw the valleys are so cool. Mario A. Showed up at RA un annoused with his team basically to get there fix. And to break the track record in formula 1 car years ago. I ran into the race teams at truck stops a few times, rowdy cool guys. Give ya a quick tour of the rig, there in rush to get to there shop. There out of hats and tshirts, they give everything away at the track. I don,t ask for nothing but, there want to get rid of Gatorade, less shit to unpack he said. The stock cars look cool even, with hot rubber stuck to the car and scrape marks. Chad Reed raced at RA last year.

They say RA is the 1 st race in America, Chicago says the same, I think there race went into Wisconsin. The original track is country roads, that are still there. You can get a map for it. There is a big camp ground close to the track, you can her the cars. I was there for 5 days, for the Chicago historic race, old Indy cars, etc. Rented a rowboat, girlfriend and kid had me busy getting there fish off the hook. Smile

I'd love to see Formula 1 cars at Road America.

First lap Mayhem just like Formula 1 but in this case, unlike Formula 1, the race wasn't over until the last laps. Those two guys were going for it.

I’m a newish fan to F1 and IndyCars. Aside from courses like Monte Carlo where there are very few passing spots why has F1 become so much “follow the leader”?

Mainly aerodynamics. The wings, strakes, flaps, wickets and spoilers scattered all over these cars are there to Channel The Air to create downforce sticking the car to the ground and allowing them to corner at such incredible speeds. When you disturb that airflow, as when following another car, you lose grip and downforce making it extremely hard to overtake or follow closely.

I saw the older F1 and Indy cars, etc race at RA. Years ago the race was called The Chicago historic car race. 3 yrs ago a guy that went to RA over 20 yrs straight. Told me there is a wealthy family from Sheboygan Wi.- rt on Lake Michigan. That they bring 2 F1 cars, 1 is a 1997. And it is the loudest car there, ovr 20k rpm or some crazy #. It freaks your senses out, very unique sound. I just watched the high lights, awesome finish. Great racing.

Noticed there was no post race interview. If so I missed it.

Last night’s race in Iowa was a good one and they’re back on the same track for Race 2 tonight. I’d love to see Pagenaud win again.

NASCAR trucks are racing at Texas Motor Speedway right now and F1 Hungary at 9:30am tomorrow. This is a good weekend for 4 wheeled racing on TV.

Hunter-Reay hits the same spot on the wall as lat night. Marbles being swept from the track during caution. “Looks like it’ll be a Saturday night shootout”..haha, I’m really starting to love the Indy Cars series.

Sounds great. Speaking of ovals, I watched the St Lous race last year. That was great also, vintage Indy car put oil down, before qualifying. They where real squirrely in qualifying.

Funny how the worst NASCAR ovals make the best Indy ovals

No Spectators for the Indianapolis 500 this year. Penske just bought IMS and spent Megabucks upgrading the entire facility. Greatest spectacle in racing with empty grandstands. That's going to be weird. Covid sucks.

Okay, new format qualifying for the Indy 500 tomorrow. Boys are lapping in the 230 mile an hour range. Big knobby balls.

Mother of pearls....

I don't have a good feeling about this.

The cars are really good, but I don't want to see anyone die for a gulp of milk.

What has you feeling bad about this? The cars are safer than they’ve ever been. It doesn’t matter if you hit a wall at 200 or 230, it’s bad at either speed. I have confidence in most forms of auto racing that losing drivers is going to a very rare occurrence.

Simple way to slow them down would be a wickerbill requirement and minimum rear wing angle. They've done it before.
Andretti's trap speed was mentioned being 240 going into 1 on the first lap. That is a bit much. But the tires can't keep that up and the car is in qualifing trim. Now they're going to set it up for long runs so the speed will drop.
