Has anyone set a XC/TX 300 up for the track and Loved it?
barring a big suspension upgrade.

coming off a 17 fc 350,, I LOVED this bike.
riding more and more trails, more and more techy.. i know the TX's shine here because I've ridden them.
i want one badly in the trails, but is it worth the trade off on a track?

only 300 I've ridden on a track, is setup pretty sagged out, so i don't feel its been a fair shake.
wishing 2 bikes was an option, but its not.
my 350 wasn't bad in the trails either, its great in there, but in a 100km race.. its wearing.

The ive ridden the tx on the track. It's solid but if your over 170# and try pushing it I think you'll find it a bit soft. If you're a b or a track rider it might feel pretty squishy, maybe you can take care of it with clickers/more air and have it be serviceable.

The 250 is a better 50/50 bike from everything I’ve read, which is the reason I went with a 250xc instead of the 300.

TX300 is good for whatever. I’ve had Fc250 Tx350 Sfx350 sx250. Suspension is fine. If you’re a fat fuk you might need to swap the rear spring. I’m 185 I had no issues. If you’re buying carburetor bike, go with Keihin 36mm same as the KTM 16’s over the other on aftermarket carbs. You definitely want to change the carb. You will save yourself a lot of time and money with the Keihin.
Honestly this bike rips on the track. It has plenty of 450 power out of the corners to clear a good size jump. Corners amazing even with the big tank. 450 don’t really pull on me from corner to corner.
Off-road is money.
I changed my sprocket to 49 I just wanted a longer 3rd gear for track.
Hope this helps

how is the xc 250 in techy trails compared to a 300?
the 300's are like magic in that stuff.
sounds like the 250 hits harder on top, which you can definitely notice a 300 flattening off up top.

A few quick mods on the 300 and the top end comes to life. I run a rk tek head, vforce 4, smart carb and some air box trimming. It absolutely woke the bike up and its still a single track monster down low. I have a yz250 as well for the track but have ridden the xc on the track multiple times. It is not far off the yz and with some suspension work I'm pretty positive I'd prefer it over the yz. It is the most versatile bike I've ever owned.

I’ve ridden my TX on the track. Suspension is too soft for me but otherwise it’s fine. I run an RK head and ports are moved up 1mm. Pulls better everywhere and revs our nicely on top now. stock carb wit Jarvis mods and jd jetting.

I have a XC250 TPI that I race in the woods and spend equal time burning motos. Of all the bikes I've owned throughout my life I have never gelled so well with a bike. The TPI makes the power so linear that it almost feels like a fourstroke. I have no problem hanging with my compadres on 450s in the straights. I've actually enjoyed it so much I think I have abandoned getting a FE 450 for another XC250 and converting it to moto. That might sound dumb because a SX is way cheaper but the light nimble feeling of the 2 stroke with the TPI is the perfect combo.
