I found the clip. You'll see he's in the racing line and then just gets wild, bucks, and runs off the track. Poor Barcia, these things are just so unpredictable:

Did he crash and cause this or did it break and cause the crash?
Look like he Bam-Bammed somebody and the leg broke. You can see damage at the axle hole which created a stress crack and a piece broke off.

He was lucky to find his bike destroyed.
Imagine if he jumped on the bike with a cracked fork/lug and to the next triple... just imagine.
Lucky guy this time.

I think he's right though. There's also damage on the hub close to the axle. That damage on the hub probably happened whenever the fork lug got damaged.

That damage on the hub looks to me like it probably happened when the axle came out...

I do hope he's ok and is back on Sunday. One thing is for sure, he hasn't ridden anywhere near his potential here in SLC.

Possibly, but what caused the fork lug to break in the first place? I doubt it was a random parts failure. These guys case huge jumps, crash onto concrete, overjump everything in sight, and how often does something like this happen?

The bike hitting the stadium wall broke the fork lug. I'm surprised the hub didn't shatter. Good advertising if I'm being honest.

You dudes are on crack if you think that crack happened any other way than going straight into the wall.

Did you think that fender just decided to fall off at the same time?

Don’t root for Barcia personally, but I really hope he’s ok, and can go Sunday. I don’t like seeing anyone get hurt, and if they do I always hope it’s minimal. Thankfully from sounds of it he wasn’t still on the bike when it hit the wall, or that could of been incredibly bad. As can be seen from that front wheel. The outside walls of some of these stadiums is straight up concrete with little to no padding.

Top 3 in standings just turned it into his choice on if he wanted to come back with them, or not. Kinda a bummer for him that he’s constantly out performed Plessinger all seasons, but AP is already signed for next year, and Barcia’s not. Will be interesting to see what blue decides to do next year with some really fast 250 guys moving up looking for rides.

What I'm interested to know is, why would someone like Barcia be running cast feet on his forks and not machined?

Agreed, it would actually be good to see what he could do on any other manufacturer.

“I was having a pretty good day, better than it has been,” said Barcia in a team statement. “I got a little sideways in the whoops and then it just kicked out too crazy and the bike went flying. I dinged myself up a little, but I’m alright and will be back on Sunday. Unfortunately my bike was broken after the crash and I wasn’t able to finish the race.
