DRD wet sump

I put one on my 2001 YZ250F. Frequent oil changes as there is only the oil in the engine. What year model are you working on?

I haven't hardly ridden mine in the last four years but I did get it prepped and ready to go a few weeks back and went riding with it. I change the oil every time I'd take it out, usually never get more than about two hours on an oil change. The oil lubes everything, including the clutch, so only having 800 or so cc of clutch contaminated oil spinning around inside isn't a good idea. The Hondas have separate tranny and crankcase oils.

What is the real advantange in the wet sump?

1 word "weight savings" It is funny that some of the aftermarket people offer a larger radiator with a remote oil coolers for the bikes so you don't overheat your oil.

Knocked off 3 plus lbs. on the 01 YZ250F, removing all the oil lines , misc. bits and the extra quart of oil up in the frame. Drawbacks.....nearly a quart less oil.

I can loose three pounds taking a dump in the morning.
