2017 YZ450F frame help

I have a 2017 YZ450F and I just discovered a major crack/break in the frame that is not reparable. Im really hoping to find a used frame online, because a new one is way to much money for me.

Issue is I can find a few frames for sale that fit the 2014-2015 models, but the part number for the 2016/2017 model is different. Some, somewhat reputable websites lists the used frames for the 2014-2017 YZ450F as all the same so I'm wondering if a 2014/2015 would work on my 2017.

Any guidance to information someone might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

You could use the 14-15 frame but they are not the same. In 16 Yamaha made changes to the frame to change the rigidity balance and improve the handling. The easiest visual difference is the cast piece above the foot pegs (the area where the inside of your ankle rubs the frame) is 10mm wider on the 2016 and up. You do NOT want to go backwards running the older style frame as the newer one was an improvement.

Like 441 said. Pics please. Or is the VIN# the "not the repairable" issue. As in the current frame is a little "WARM?"

You could use the 14-15 frame but they are not the same. In 16 Yamaha made changes to the frame to change the rigidity balance and improve the handling. Thanks for the input. I think my only option might be to buy a 2014 frame that has 27hrs on it, but I appreciate the information.

lol, nope. Been using it to practice on. I live in NY and no tracks are really open yet so Ive been riding a sand pit and a turn track. I'm trying to prep and take a shot at a few nationals this year (more for the experience/bucket list item/likely won't qualify) with this being the bike I ride. The bike has about 100 hrs on it. Like I said, I haven't rode on any gnarly tracks with big jumps latley, no big hits etc... Rode a turn track, started washing it and saw the small crack. Thought it would be fixable till I saw the massive one on the lower portion of the frame.

I don't think you're gonna like the cornering on that 14 frame.Dizzy I know, I had one. Also might want to check AMA rules if you can ride a bike that old in Pro Motocross. I know you cant in SX

I agree with that statement. The 2014 YZ450F was the bike I think back on as the worst I've ever owned. Super fast engine in a terrible chassis.

Get a 16/17 frame if you can.

Or, buy the used 14 frame and sell the bike... Then pick up a 2018+ machine. I rode a 2019 Saturday, they handle great and if you like the ultra snappy YZ-F power delivery, it's still there with a ton of power but it feels like less engine braking than I remember on older YZ450Fs.

Thats the plan, get another frame and sell it. I'm not sure how that works with a title etc in NY, but I have the title for the other frame so I figure whoever I sell it to ill let them have the original title and frame. Probably take a beating on the price, but not worth dealing with the headache.

I have a 2018 I'm planning on riding/racing. Just used the 2017 for practice/putting hrs on.
