I know they sell the grip tape in two colours, grey or black- i am trying to buy some of the black stuff, i think they make it in 4 inch wide rolls, but i cant figure out how to buy this one again, and not get the sand paper-like grip tape.

thanks, Bruce

Well, let's look at this here. You know, as you have stated, that 3M makes it. You know you want rubber, versus the "sand paper like tape" that you know you do not like. So, If I were you, I'd start at the obvious place.....3M. I'm certain as big an outfit as they are, they have an online catalog somewhere on this interweb you can find all the info you would ever want to know, plus, even find out where this said grip/traction tape can be purchased. Hell, I remember about a decade ago a company called Stomp that made clear rubber grip tape for your frame rails and side plates..... but, they could be dust in the wind by now for all I know. Good luck!

I’ve experimented with a lot of tapes & rubber materials. This is the best value IMO. I use something different on the frame rails but the clear stuff is great for covering plastics or graphics. They also make it in black or grey, which I used to use on the frame spars but now I use a vibram soling rubber sheet.

I think the keyword is rubberized grip tape. That seems to yield the best results. But let us know about that “medium duty” 3M product. It looks a bit different than anything I’ve tried. Show us a close up pic when you get it, if you can.

Not sure if you would like this stuff but the price point isn't tooooo bad if the other stuff you ordered doesn't work out...

https://www.mcmaster.com/grip-tape

Search for the - Nonabrasive Antislip Tape

You can get in different widths which may be nice depending on area to be covered.

Cheap, really thick & multiple colors. The new stuff he has coming out is the toughest Ive seen. My older boy torture tested prototypes of it awhile back.............

It's good stuff. Especially for price. Can't make your own for cheaper and it's thick materialyou can't buy in bulk that I've found............
