Who uses a vacuum pump when rebuilding their shock? I'm on the fence about sending my suspension off to get serviced, and this is the only hang up. I have rebuilt a couple shocks before, but I've never used a vacuum pump because they are just too expensive. Assuming I am able to get the majority of the air out of the shock on my own, am I going to see any noticeable change in performance over sending the shock off to be serviced by a reputable shop? The cost savings of doing it on my own is substantial.
I removed the gas reservoir, drilled it and fitted a Schrader to make charging easier.
