His thoughts:
His heel injury hurt worse than any other injuries he's had. He got hit in the finger with a rock and might have broke it, but the heel kept him out of the 2nd moto.
Small numbers suck.
He was surprised by Reed's decision and thinks he underestimated the field. However, he sees Reed using the first part of the series to get the bike right...then it's on. He said Reed is only here for the championship and has zero interest in 2nd place. (I think that's what he implied). He said GH is not the type of track Reed enjoys at all (with the hills) and he knows him well.
I asked him what happened to team Honda and how when we first turned pro they were such a powerhouse and seemed ruthless to their riders who weren't producing, now they are content with top 5... He wasn't too sure but thought the bikes aren't up to par. He had nothing bad to say about Shorty, IT or DM, and I wasn't trying to get anything out of him.
He thinks he can match MA800's pace but can't match his starts nor his first lap speed. (I think that's what he implied). We were both surprised RV caught MA; did anything happen? We couldn't see shit from our spot.
He was a little upset that he didn't race the 2nd moto after we watched quite a few riders pull off or get carted off. Thinks a top 15 was possible even in pain. He'll be in CA all week and will race Hangtown.
He's trying to get his boy interested in other sports because MX can be brutal! (His words pretty much). He says that probably won't work. lol
He's still having fun racing bikes and will race as long as Kawasaki gives him a contract. He said he will probably finish out his career on Kawis.
We talked a little about Henry but he said he doesn't hear a lot about him because he's kinda quiet and not socialable. I said much like you and Ferry laughed a little.
I'm not posting this to say "look at me." I think Ferry is one of those guys who we don't hear a lot about so I thought I'd let you guys in on some of what we talked about. It's not like we are friends either...he just sat down next to me and we talked.
It doesn't need to be said (probably) but Ferry is very humble and approachable, especially for how good he is at his profession.

How can anyone not be a fan of Timmy? Definatly one of the "nice guys" in the sport. Hope he gets healthy and is up there where he belongs all summer.
....Just kidding
it's just that he's one of the bad-asses of our sport and I thought others would like to hear what he had to say as much as I did.
Post a reply to: Chatted with Ferry for the entire 2nd moto.
