I have had a 125 motor with all brand new parts bolted up, with the holes taped off and the entire thing wrapped in shrink wrap sitting on my shelf in my garage for about 6 months. Everything was lubed and I coated the cylinder walls lightly with oil. I did not put any trans oil in it. Is it ok to throw it on the bike put some oil in it an go ride or should I re soak the clutch in oil and clean the inside of The cylinder? I have never let a motor sit for that long without putting oil in it so I don’t no. I’m also curious if the piston ring will still seal properly I’m not sure if oil thickens or anything along that line after sitting for awhile? Like I said I wrapped it up in string wrap really good and taped off any holes so there’s no way moisture or dirt got near it. Maybe it’s a stupid question but it’s a expensive motor with all brand new parts and a custom transmission so I worry. Thanks
Edit- yeah didnt see the dry tranny bit. Agreed to wet them refit them.

When an engine is assembled brand new at the factory, little assembly lube is used beyond trans oil for the tranny and a smear of two stroke oil for the piston/jug. The clutch plates are NOT soaked prior to assembly. I've witnessed this first hand. The engine is then assembled into the chassis and when it reaches the end of the assembly line, the bike goes onto a dyno. If it passes the minimum HP threshold, it goes in a crate. If it fails to meet the lowest HP number, the bike is set aside for a motor swap. Yes, your brand new bike gets warmed up for about 15 seconds and strangled on a dyno. The next time you are in a dealership, look at a brand new MX bike you your choice. Look at the rear rotor and it will have wear marks from using the brake on the dyno to slow it down. The front rotor is unused. Your motor is fine to install add oil prior to install, turn it over a few times randomly and let 'er rip.
