I don't think it was the riders controlling anything more then the way a rider found out about it after the fact that bothers some.

Either way he sounds like a good guy, and great wrench and another team will scoop him up.

For sure, it's the "Green Team's" loss.
RV's too.
Again, "high-schoolishness" doesn't belong in Pro racing!
But then again, many in place don't belong there either!
Politics, go figure!
Out with the good, keep the bad!

I like how Dave tells it like it is, given that his identity is no secret on this board. Props to you Dave O.

Bummer deal for Jon for sure, especially mid-season. Most factory/top level teams are full and budgets set. And you know Throttle was looking forward to some good results from his boy RV, gunning for a championship, and getting some nice bonuses this summer Wink

there are a lot of good, quality mechanics out there. Certainly more than there are "title contender" riders. So when a good mechanic lands a rider like RV, it's like winning the lottery! The disparity between pay for, say a top 15-20 rider 's mechanic on a privateer team, and that of a mechanic for a race winner like RV is huge! Just like the riders salaries are. It just really sucks that Jon got released from the rider he has been with since his PC 250F days and it was no fault of his own.

1st, get it right.
There's stepping in, filling in, etc., all good intentions!
Then there's stepping over & on, do the math.
It was also in the print of "2's" contract, the mechanic part.
Inventing reasons when none exist is what it is.
"HR Depts". are very good at following other peoples paperwork,
yet very bad at investigating such in the 1st place.
They act on what they're given or told, no more no less.
In other words passing the buck is job 1 for them.
Many times I question why there is even such!
Welcome to the work place!

If it was in RV's contract and he really wanted to keep him then how do Kawasaki have a case to get rid of him ?

This isn't about me, but thanks just the same.
I'm the way I am, can't skate that.
People who've worked with me know I'm a die-hard!
I just hate the BS.
I just hate the scamers, liers, cheats, etc.
In this arena, I can smell it real quick.
Heck it's everywhere, every industry, like "smog"!
Can't skate that just about anywhere either, yet
for me, in Pro racing it's all about TEAM WORK. No more no less.
Others think there's an easy way.
Many are good, but at the same time they're bad.
Good programs have good people, through & through.
Again, don't always believe what you see!

John used to be my mechanic when I rode for Pro Circuit in 2004. He's a great guy and I never had any problems with him, and as far as I know, neither did Pro Circuit. I also never heard anything about John not being a "Team Player"!!!

I smell lots of B.S in this story, I would really like to know why this happened!?! I'll have to hear it from John himself....

Stephane Roncada
Tnx for shimming in. Would be cool to hear his story for sure, feel free to post his reply if that is ok for him. Smile

True, Dave tells it like it is. Gotta love him for that. He has many, many friends in the industry and he knows what he’s talking about.

And Dave is right on this one too. Unfortunately, Jon never had a chance at Team Kawasaki. Some team politics and back-stabbing is a bad side of that team. A few of the guys have a track record of this.

Jon is a good guy and a great mechanic. This sucks for him. Once his Dad died, the vulchers on the team started circling, and they claimed yet another victim.

Let’s hope this turns out positive for Jon in the end somehow……….and let’s hope it turns out bad for the vulchers.

Why was he let go?

Seems like a really great guy, and a proven wrench.

I know "throttle", he is a full on team player and a great guy. Anyone that know jon will agree, i can only think ryan was pissed when he was told, throttle listens to his riders and can make a bike work the way the rider asks.

I have known Jon for a long time we used to work together at a shop in our home town. I know what kind of worker and friend he is. I feel so bad for him because he has worked his ass off to get where he is today, Just to get screwed over by a backstabber at Kawi. I wish the best for RV but his new mechanic your time will come, its funny how he gets the top riders at kawasaki. There is one person to probably thank for that. Good luck Jon and wish you the best.

I don't think Honda is even having a "Factory Team" next year. I heard it from my dealer. He said that there isn't going to be a Factory Team, but just satelite. Which is shitty for Andrew Short's case. The other's haven't proved much.

Errr... Who is he? Lol.

Well, what happened for him to get the boot? Seems odd that they would want to make a switch when they were doing so well at the last 2 sx races and have won a few titles together.

In other words, Why fuck with the arrangement if it has been working so well over the years, is the question?

5/17/2009 12:49pm
is there like some sort of "click" group over at Kawasaki? Was he not in it? Sounds like some kind of power play.

It's crazy though that RV's first win on the 450 was at Seattle when Mike (Stewarts mechanic last year) was wrenching for him and not Jon. Such a bummer for Jon though
