New Fantasy SX Site for 2020

Edited Date/Time 1/3/2020 2:41pm
My friend and I are avid moto riders/fans in Corona. A few years ago, we created a Fantasy Supercross league to play with our buddies, similar to the fun “season-long, head-to-head” league format used in fantasy football. It ended up being a blast, so we decided to develop a website so everyone could join in the fun.

It’s called SpeedLeagueFantasy.com, and we’ve launched for the 2020 season. It’s a 4 player league, where players will pick their team in a Draft, then manage it throughout the season. Each race, you play head-to-head with another player in your league. You score points for your team’s performance, and predict finishing positions for bonus points. The top 2 teams compete at the last race for the Fantasy Championship.

The game is tons of fun, and best of all it’s FREE. I’m including our rules page here if you’d like to see how the game works in detail. We’ll also be doing outdoor Motocross, MotoGP, F1 and NASCAR for those interested. Grab 3 friends and sign up, and feel free to reach out with your thoughts!

Note: You can now sign up and create your league, but the Draft will not be available until shortly before A1 due to late East/West rider announcements. We’d recommend organizing your league’s Draft Date for a day or two before the race for the most current rider info.

Interesting. I'm definitely curious to see how it all plays out as I've long wanted to play in a season-long fantasy SX league but I've had my doubts about whether or not it can work.

With a four person league you really need four completely dedicated people because one person losing interest screws the entire operation, but I understand that with the suggested roster sizes it probably needs to stay at four.

Might I suggest a second option, with an 8-team league with alternate roster sizes of 3 (450SX) 2 (250W) and 2 (250E)? From a drafting standpoint, it would still be fairly balanced assuming it is a snake draft. The last guy to pick would still have a top-8 rider and would also get the 9th rider as well, so it's not like they're totally screwed. From a competitive standpoint it makes sense too. Your first two riders are almost locks to qualify, with that 3rd roster spot a dart-throw pick to make the main, adding to the excitement of the qualifying races.

Was also wondering about the wording of the add/drop system. You say permanent drop... does that mean the rider can't be picked back up off the "free agents" the following week?

Glad to see another option out there, cheers!

Putting some friendly money on the line always keeps players active.

We're exploring options for larger sized leagues in the future, but the 4 player leagues work really well. It was difficult to create balanced scoring in a sport where there isn't as much player availability as there is in the 32-team NFL, but this system has made for great competitive gameplay.

A rider that has been dropped is a "free agent" and you could pick them up again. But so can anyone else! Thanks for the feedback.

Also, the prediction points are what really makes the skilled players shine. It's satisfying to nail a rider's prediction dead-on.

So do you have your same riders all year or do you re-draft at some point?

After the MotoDynasty debacle, I’m always a bit cautious when it comes to fantasy startups. Good luck guys

Why don’t you just make it a budget style league? People can then have the same riders as long as they stay under the cap

I'm thinking you have to actually have friends to play this one, I literally don't know anyone in my regular life outside of this place that is into Motocross.

Not speaking for them but I think the whole idea is to have a season-long roster (with ability to add/drop) and head to head matchups.

The budget system you’re referring to is akin to the daily fantasy competitions we see already with other sports. It’s a good idea just not what they’re going for with this site by the looks of it.

Can we do a league of more than 4? It would be awesome if we had a vital league, like Tarz I don’t have many friends into mx

Lots of players on the site don't have friends that are into moto. Anyone looking for people to start a league with should use this thread to connect with others. That's why Vital is such a great community.

The draft will be available as soon as we have enough info on which coast the 250 guys will be racing. Organize your draft date for soon before A1, that will give you the most updated info.

Draft is now enabled. Some of you have been contacting me, East/West rider announcements don't happen until the last minute. But we're good to go! Schedule your league's draft, or set up a league if you haven't already. Draft will still be available after A1 if you don't make it.

My league will be at Buffalo Wild Wings in Corona tonight to do our draft, and we'll see you at A1 tomorrow! Feel free to come say hi if you see a Speed League shirt.

Awesome I'm commissioner in my league, I'll set up our draft for tonight! Why doesn't the AMA make these teams announce where the riders are racing sooner?
