How do you clean this type of air filter?

So I am working on a neighbors bike that needs service. How do you clean this type of Air filter? I assume you use a spray on filter oil.
Thanks

CRF450X by the way. I've only used foam filters. I tried for a min or 2 but have yet to even get that thing out of the air box... LOL

The X has a hard filter to remove regardless... That looks like a K&N filter; they sell a cleaning spray for them...

Ok thanks. I figured out it is a 2 piece design. I'm not sure if I care for this type of filter. If anyone has used it or has knowledge of it feel free to chime in. Thanks men!

If you do keep it clean it with the cleaner and make sure you spray the correct oil on it.

It's a cotton gauze wrapped in steel mesh filter. They flow really well, but don't do a very good job of filtering out fine dust. You can clean it with regular filter cleaner, but make sure you properly oil it with the K&N oil. Follow the instructions to make sure the filter is properly oiled.

The pic shows a filter that looks un-oiled. I'd be very leery of dust having gotten into that engine.
