What makes these A kit forks/shock compared to standard SSS stuff? Not familiar with KYB kit stuff, only the Showa kit stuff.

You would have to call stillwell. I don’t really have much knowledge on them. Got them in on trade.

It's not kit suspension. Just stock modified.

That’s what I figured. I’ve had my showa kit stuff apart for service a hand full of times and there are quite a few differences internally beyond just the coatings.

Okay thanks I guess it’s just stock stuff, do the new Yamaha’s come with the black lower tubes and burnt copper upper tubes?

Not true. Tolerances and coatings are what makes a big difference between stock SSS and KYB kit stuff. You can coat the stock suspension, but the tolerances will never be close to kit KYB's. Don't quote me on that but I believe rods have a different diameters as well.

Awesome deal for a decent suspension!

Price drop to 750 for forks maybe less depending on urgency of purchase.

Not a clue as to how much does the coating cost in US, but I believe it's safe to say that the buyer pretty much pays for the coatings (or not even that) and gets the suspension for free. Glws!

I read that segment, but we have no clue if the lower tubes were stock parts coated, or if Stillwell used Technical Touch DLC parts, which come coated from the factory.

I am no Bones or pro, therefore I can only speak from my personal, slow dude experience: even aftermarket coating (when done right) smoothens out the suspension. I compared two sets of KYBs back to back with the same seals, oil and setup, on the same day. Placebo? While riding, maybe. When checking how easily the lower tube slides out of upper under it's own weight on the bench - not necessarily.

Yep I’m pretty sure there isn’t a whole lot different from kyb. Kit forks to the standard sss fork found on new bikes other then the dlc coated lowers, Kashmir’s coated uppers, billet lugs, Anodized blue or black upper fork caps. my suspension guy said he didn’t noticed anything internally different.
