So as I was in my local hippy arts district to pick a few $1 tacos, I walked buy a table and the local rag caught my eye.

You wanna entertain the people, entertain the people. Though let's be honest; this is NOT an accurate representation of the mostly yuppy city that is Charlotte. Sure it's got it's not so great sides of town and idiots doing wheelies in the streets; but it's a far, far cry from Baltimore, Atlanta, etc

Gotta give the guys in the article props for loading up trucks and going to an abandoned location, instead of the normal street trolling for attention, but I'm sure they do plenty of that as well. The most interesting part is the concern about a negative public perception. Sure there's a little bit of improvement to be made on the public side with stereotyping and whatnot, but 99% of the public perception is completely within their control and directly connected to their behavior.
"When I ask what could be done in an ideal world to help alleviate this growing tension between riders and police, Russ and Chevy suggest that police should allow for riders to be on the streets on Sunday afternoons — between 2 and 5 p.m. perhaps — and they would agree to follow the rules of the road and not ride at other times."
My thoughts are this,
they go through the trouble of organizing an event to give out school supplies. So there is some organization to the group. If they had a genuine concern they could find a place to do their wheelies legally. Im sure if they offered to pay to use the lot and provided insurance the land owner would be more than willing to collect the money. If they absolutely just had to ride on the street for a special occasion they could file for a parade permit and have the roads closed off.
Unfortunately that is not their goal.
From the 30 minutes I’ve looked online, it looks a TON better than Michigan - but stories like the one here makes me wonder. Have you liked it so far? And where did you move from?
FWIW - Burlington had class A ball team of the Indians when I was down there. It's a Royals rookie team now.
Decent riding down in that area?
