After procrastinating for quite a number of years, I am going to offer Curnutt Shock rebuilds at a very reasonable price. I worked for Chuck Curnutt from 1975 till 1982 in all aspects of his factory. I know a little about the shocks.
I can rebuild your shocks that are in rebuildable condition. If you can not tell contact me scotmarian@aol.com and we can talk about it and for other information. I am doing this as a hobby and have everything up and operational. It supports my habit.
The rebuild will consist of:
Disassembly, cleaning and inspection
New seals and Orings
Fresh fluid
Paint on the bodies.
Note: I also have the capability of recharging the shocks the right way with nitrogen which is offered by very few people that I am aware of.
I am limited in extra parts availability and can only replace parts on a case by case basis. If something is really worn out I may have to make it which may take time or I may deem your shocks non repairable and not worth it to you to have them rebuilt.

I had Curnutt shocks on my 1972 Rickman Zundapp 125 back in the day and I really liked them. I re-acquired the Rickman in the '90s but the shocks were missing and I have been searching for a set ever since. I now have access to a set that were on a '70s era Husky. They are 15.75" in length. Can you rebuild/refurbish this set for use on my Rickman? I think my OEM shocks are about 13" eye to eye but I recall the Curnutts being a couple of inches longer for my application. If you think you can make these work for me, let me know.

The Rickmans took a 13 3/4" shock. The ones you are looking at would not work for your application.

Also had a hard time taking the upper eye off of the rod but also heated them and it worked.
I was able to get the seals and O-rings from a industrial supplier of seals.
Everything is cleaning up good. I am thinking of putting a clear coat of paint on the body. What do you think?
I had the springs bead blasted then I painted them Chevy engine red.

They are going on a 1973 Penton Berkshire 100 which has a red tank a silver frame and white fenders.
In the 1970's I rode a 71 Penton steel tank 125 in central Cal enduro's and play riding at California City.
I installed Curnutt's and they worked great. I also put a set on my sons XR 75 Honda which made it a long travel rear suspension.

I have a pair of 1979 OEM Husqvarna Curnutt rear shocks that I've had hanging in my shop for forever, recently pulled them down to clean and sell them, they are in amazing condition. I bought a 79 OR 390 yesterday that's fairly clean, all because I have these shocks (as well as have most of the original OEM parts, some new, like the tank, rear fender, brake pedal, are all unused NOS OEM parts).
I intend to restore this bike, and am thinking the only parts that will not be, or look new will be the Curnutt shocks. Even though they look amazing, and still have the nitrogen charge, I found this link on the forum today and now want to have you rebuild/ restore them.
Are there any options available for heavier valving and/ or springs?
I attached photos of them for you to review, if you like.

Those look to be in really great shape. I can change the valving somewhat to what seems to work over the stock set up. As far as a heavier spring....no. But I can upgrade the smaller black spring with a heavier one that makes a significant difference.
