Whats the deal with talking about covington on podcasts, every time they talk about covington you can tell they cant say anything about his situation. Have they been asked by husky not to mention it? Just listened to Daniel Blair's podcast and he said he doesn't want to talk about it when covington was brought up? Mathes is kinda the same just doesn't go in to it to much with the listeners. Just seems a bit odd like they have been silenced.
Exactly why we need real, independent journalists in this sport.

No way to have objective reporting when people are bro-ing down with the teams. I don't care how much media people play down this stuff, there is such as thing as professional boundaries and the media in this sport do not have them... thus leading to the current drought of information.

Well with Blair it's pretty obvious. He works for Feld, who is balls deep with Monster, and Mitch Covington is a big-wig at Monster. Easy peasy.

As for Matthes, he and JT did discuss Covington last Thursday on the Moto 60 show and both guys were pretty blunt about how this was a bad decision and how it was not going to go very well.

If supercross destroyed him that much then its obvious he is in the wrong profession. Hope he figures it out can't think of 1 single reason...

Hope he figures it out can't think of 1 single reason to dislike the kid.
MXdN 2017 didn't go too well for him (extreme pressure) even b4 he injured his knee and to think many were a year ago thinking he was to be a strong point of the 2019 US MXdN team (with his Assen / MXGP series experience) .....

and now he can't even put in a decent moto lap or even qualifying lap all year (SX or MX) , crazy to know now what happened based on 2018 hopefulness... poor guy, feel bad for him,

maybe if he will talk in his true Alabama accent he will be more relaxed and excel in "Merica!

You should take the tinfoil hat off...did you maybe think that maybe they just don't know? Hell 99% of the "journalists" didn't even know that he went from training in Cali to Carmichaels then on down to Baker's to work with Tyla...

No chance. The dude cannot go from getting 30th to top 5. And you can’t use epstein barr as an excuse in qualifying because all he has to do is put 1 lap together and he cant even make it into the top 25 in that either. I simply think he doesn't have the speed every one believed he had. Husky must have their heads in their hands thinking about having to pay him to ride another year.

Yeah he just had Hunter Lawrence's number last year in the GP's because he was lucky...I just love all the "experts" on here...

Unfortunately, last year isn't this year and in this game you're only as good as your last race.

If this diagnosis is stopping him putting 1 fast lap in on qualifying then its something a lot more serious than epstein barr. He doesn’t have the speed and thats that plain and simple.

You can't go from where he was last year in MX2 in the GP's to where he is now without something major being wrong...Unless the MX2 class in the GP's is that inferior to the 250's in the US...(everyone relax I know it's not true just making a point)...it definitely not as simple as "He doesn't have the speed"

Hes on arguably the best equipment out there and he can barely scrape inside the top 30 on a 1 lap dash let alone a race. Im sorry but he just doesn’t have the speed, come up with any excuse you want for him, but he is a flop of magnificent proportions. And il eat my hat if he can pick it back up and be a contender next year which i would love to see him do.

So everything he did in the GP's up to this year was a fluke....I'm going to have to stop watching them if they're all that slow....What did he do steal your dog?
Don't lose that hat...

Well tell me whats wrong with him then? If he is so sick that he can’t even make 1 flying lap inside the top 30 in timed qualifying why the hell is he even contemplating sitting on a bike? He obviously cannot be that poorly the doctor signed him off to ride 2 weeks ago they said today on a podcast. Stick a fork in covington and put some ketchup on him because he's done...

I feel like this is a "what could have been" moment...

What would 2019 have looked like if he stayed in MX2? Prado is alone in that field, but would Covington be fighting for P2 in MX2 points?

I do not see him "fixing" it next year in AMA. There haven't even been flashes of brilliance...
