Because sim isn't a "SIM" at all really with all the insanely cheesy setups and the bikes are rockets. Have you played a 1:1 scale track on sim? Horrendous.

Dont get me wrong it's a good game and I do play but it has its niche.

Would be cool if they could get the coders of the Reflex game and somehow create a gameplay that's realistic in air. IMO the game from 2009 (!) is way better to play than the recent games. Visuals however are awesome

That's incorrect.
I don't usually like to weigh in on this stuff but there is a lot of rumor on the Reflex development. To clear things up as Riesenberg stated up above, all of that info is false. Reflex was build in good ole Phoenix, AZ on Rainbow's own game engine. The online servers were part of a third party that does not exist anymore hence no more online play for Reflex. Code is not available to us for Reflex after the studio was shut down way back when. Sorry folks.

Agreed. All Out is the best in the series in my opinion.

Hopefully Nordic puts an end to the semi-annual release bullshit over there at Milestone. The real question, will Milestone become a support team for Rainbow Studios, I am all for that. No offense to the MXGP/MES lovers/developers, but lets just throw that physics engine in the trash and forget they ever existed.

Seeing that they both use Unreal, correct me if I am wrong, assets are likely to be retained.

Acquiring Milestone and then making them a support team for Rainbow would be a very...odd choice.

Trueee... the MotoGP, Gravel, Ride, MXGP/MES, etc are all money makers. But lets be honest, Rainbow with extra man-power. Heads up

Don’t be sorry. You guys have far surpassed reflex at this point and anyone that’s put more than an hour into All Out knows it.

Obviously there’s little bugs and issues but you guys are constantly working on and Improving the gameplay. This update yesterday radically fixed the issue of getting stuck in the banners fences and I was so impressed that you guys spent the time addressing it.

I hope Milestone remains Milestone and keeps releasing games. The latest MX vs ATV games have been terrible compared to MES or the MXGP games. You can throw fat whips in MES and MXGP. You can also throw low scrubs that actually make you faster (ya know, like real life). Lookup my gamertag kNewc on xbox gameclips and the latest vid of me is scrubbing the shit over a double. I'm a huge fan of the Milestone games and have purchased every one. I've only rented the MX vs ATV games and I wont be purchasing any soon.

I thought when THQ Nordic was born, there was an article that pretty much came out and explained the story of the servers and losing the access to all the coding? Trying to google it but not having any luck.

Edit: Found it https://racerxonline.com/2017/02/05/on-site-rainbow-studios

Going back to the Reflex issue. In the early 2000s it was common for tech companies to outsource some of the work for the programming. The third party companies typically work on code that gets implemented into the main code to perform certain tasks. Rainbow Studios had hired another company to write the network code that basically controlled an essential part of the way the game worked. This is all good, when the two companies are working together. Sometime after MX vs ATV Reflex was released, the third-party company was bought by another company and they completely internalized everything and dropped anyone that wasn’t in-house without even an option for licensing. Many other games, not just MX vs ATV, suffered from this and many popular games went offline. The gaming community was in outrage.

In 2011 MX vs ATV Alive was released in the spring and Rainbow Studios dropped the third-party coding option and internalized the programming themselves. They had to start from scratch and were able to get the network code to work with Microsoft and Sony starting with MX vs ATV Alive. Shortly after, in the fall of the same year, THQ, Rainbow Studios’ parent company, filed for bankruptcy and everyone was laid off. The office was liquidated and many servers and other items were thrown away or destroyed.

When David was telling me all of this I couldn’t help but imagine that scene from the movie Office Space where the guys go out and beat the printer. Whether it looked like this or not, I don’t know, but we do know that some of those employees filled a truck in the middle of the night with stuff and stored it.

All the people that have boners for reflex need to spend some quality time in all out and get your bike setup correct with manual transmission. Mine litterally feels like reflex but better cornering. Heavy chassis on all out makes it feel the most reflex

I think a lot of the reflex nostalgia is just people remembering it being better than it was. I have a 360 and play it often still, the bike slides around everywhere like crazy
I’m not saying Reflex was flawless by any means, go back and play now and the graphics looks awful, lol. But the scrubbing and slippery corners made the game fun with how you had to finesse the controls. Kind of like how Gran Turismo is a fun driving game, you can’t just floor it through every corner, you have to find the right balance to find traction.

I think I’ll just have to give All Out another shot. I bought it when it came out and returned it immediately because of the controls, so 1) I didn’t really give it a chance and 2) I’ve read that the game has changed a lot since it came out. I’ve been keeping up with the All Out thread a bit.

It's not like i'm attacking the companies for their products. I know those guys are doing the best they can. But I just wondered why we couldn't find the people that coded the previous Reflex game at all. You could hire some of them on Freelance basis and use their knowledge to make a killer game. Ofcourse Reflex had its flaws, that's why I told that cornering could have been better. But the in air physics were awesome. That's why I still have much fun playing the game.

Check out the calendar for thq nordic/ milestone for the next 3 years! Monster supercross 3 been released Feb 2020 and monster supercross again in November for the start of season maybe? Also what other games have they plannned for the August slot? And what's the the new game do you think? AMA motocross? What do you guys think?

That Supercross4 right there doesn't make any sense.
Let's say that by releasing Supercross3 on Feb2020, they should be able to incluide the current 2020 season... so what new things will incluid Supercross4 only 9 months later? Oh wait milestone is a money grabber
