Will go largely unsung but
Shitty start in moto 1 and was around 17th (when I first saw his name) to 8th
Another shitty start and crash in moto 2 38th (when I first saw his name) to 12th

No quit in that dude

He never gives up, he is been that way the whole time when he was in the GPs in Europe.

I really hope he can get some better starts and get a few top 5 results before the year is over!

I can't help but think that his US bike setup isn't as good as his Oz bikes for his own liking or style. Could it be that the YMUS team can't set up bikes well and that team needs a re-rack? Sure seems that way for all the riders before him of recent years

He should ask Craig Dack to send over a bike, would be interesting to know what the differences are

Yamaha USA wont allow that. When he raced Hi Point? 2 years ago Yamaha USA wouldn't let there riders test the CDR bike he took over.

He was struggling a bit with setup early, but I think they organised a set of forks from here or something like that..

He's riding really well just can't get a start I'd love to see what he could do with a good one.. fuck I reckon he'd settle for a decent one haha.. I watched him in that second moto at Southwick and he got off the gate decent but then just got hosed by Osborne and Anderson.. It was strange!

Also can't imagine the 30mins of track time makes it easy to take on some of the worlds best for the motos haha

You would think they would pull their heads out of their arses and be open to test anything. Maybe CDR have some magic they haven't found. The CDR bikes have worked really well for a long time.
Props for Dean on a consistent top 10 showing

i dont believe the CDR bike was "better" i think the guys have all gotten faster..

i do think, Factory Yamaha needs help in the set up department.. Get RV out there to help set up the team bikes.. that guy knows how to test...

Also, he is running his exact same fork set up from CDR on the KYB PSF2 Air forks... he said that on the pulp show.. so now its just tuning them from each track. and honestly i dont think the factory yamaha guys have enough data to figure out what works best, in which conditions.. i think they are in the learning phase.

I thought he went to his air fork set up that he used back here and mentioned that it didn't work as well on the US tracks as it did in Aus.

I think he probably overachieved a little in his guest ride at High Point and set some unrealistic expectations for himself. He wasn't really a week in week out podium guy in Europe either so to expect that in the US straight up is probably a bit much considering the quality of riders still on the track.

If he can finish between 5 and 10 every week then that's a win in my book. He's definitely got heart and wont quit. How cool would it be to road trip through the US in a motorhome with your young family, then ride the sweetest prepped tracks in the world on a factory bike every weekend, and get paid to do it. He's doing life right thats for sure.

Well in the interest of accuracy or 'keepin it real' as the kids say he never actually stood on the MXGP podium definitely had some solid top 5 rides in fact I remember he went 4-4 for 4th at one round (maybe two not 100% sure) then Waters went something like 5-7 at a mudder and got on the podium haha

Yeah it's funny what you can achieve in this sport with a tonne of confidence and not knowing where you 'fit' haha

Like I said I'd love to see him get a start.. Not gonna stamp anything haha just would like to see what he could do with it.. I agree though 5-10 is definitely solid!

Oh and on ya last point as if that's not the dream trip on it's own haha
