After 43 years with the department, nine years as the Chief, Beck has called time on an incredible career. His professional resume is impressive but he’d rather talk dirt bikes. Charlie has a fleet of vintage and modern bikes and, before he joined law enforcement, he made an effort to be a pro racer. Listen in or watch on YouTube as we cover his life and career.

Such a Great show! Chief Beck Sounds like one of the most down to earth, coolest guys you've had on WT yet. Didn’t know what to expect, but came away thinking dude should run for president!! (GL for VP obviously)

Thanks guys.

Started listening on my way to work this morning - sounds like a really solid dude and a great guest! My eyes got big when he said he's probably cut up 50 Maico frames Blink Woohoo Grinning

Im watching this right now and so far its Very interesting im about 30 minutes in, i love all there opinions about the things learned from riding dirt bikes, quick decision making, driving a car better and a few other things, and interesting how he felt it even made him a better police officer, and how a lot of things learned transfer into life.

Yes, and he was in the audience. We spoke about having him on the show soon. Damon is now a motor cop (motorcycle) and some of his stories about the similarities are great.

He would be a good interview, always liked him. He had some solid years before he punched out.

Best. One. Ever.

I miss that guy at the helm of our ship. Luckily I've gotten to talk to him through family friends and he is moto to the core, and an amazing guy when it came to trying to heal a broken city. Too bad he got tired of fighting the politics.

Agree, had never heard of him. But listening to him with his opinions of what moto teaches you and how it easily transfers to life is so true.

That would really suck for a criminal to try and beat Huffman on a bike. He’d have no idea who he was trying to outrun.

I started listening not expecting much. OK first responders show for Pings new friends. Rah rah rah - you kno what? Smack me in the head. I learned a LOT about LEOs and Medics. How can you not respect these guys?! About 20 mins in I had to text my bro the link. This guys a core motocrosser. I should’ve known after he showed up at REM earlier this year and won 1st time out but I’ve never met him or imagined his history. He may not have made it as a pro MXer but he can sure as hell bench race with the best of them. Any MXer of a certain age that came up in the halcyon days of SoCal moto can def relate to his story. Cutting Maico frames - Understanding and expressing the parables of Motocross and life in general and the life skills Moto imparts.....good stuff and all true. Loved and respected his take on the LA riots...Wild West indeed! I now consider him a motocrosser who became a cop, a top cop. Where before I considered him a cop who raced moto as a hobby. Big Difference. I look forward to introducing myself and shaking his hand. Good job Ping!!

A really great episode , and what a Man ! Dedicated to his sport and it’s people .
It’s often true that people at the top in public life are disassembled piece by piece by the public and media ....
But this guy seems like a huge asset to LA with his years of service .
One of the best episodes and a weekend warrior !
