And I don't blame him one bit. Will be interesting to hear what he has to say about the shit he has had to deal with.

Supercross rider James Stewart, the first African-American to win a major motorsports title, is often called the “Tiger Woods” of his sport as the most dominant athlete in competition. Earning more than $10 million annually, Stewart has not only broken numerous records, he has broken barriers as well. His father collected cans to help pay for his son’s racing, and Stewart tells E:60’s Michael Smith about the blatant racism he has endured at the racetrack.

There is more skin heads at A-1 then there is at all the Nationals combined.

Face it he makes 10 mil for 5 months of racing thats why he doesn't want to race the other 4 months

I call bullshit on Stewart's alleged comments / reasons for why he isn't riding the nats.

why bullshit and lie - just say, "I hate riding the outdoors and I'm not gonna do them this year."

people who complain about sx only contracts are fighting a losing battle , its just part of the evolution of the sport as a whole . specialization is going to happen more and more when (if) the sport of dirt biking grows . i see a future where the big outside sponsored teams are racing sx because of the mainstream exposure and the motorcycle sponsored teams will be the ones racing outdoors to promote their products to their customers . the difference between the two disciplines is also a big factor , you dont see any olympic athletes running the 100m AND the 400m events and they are more alike than sx and mx are . eventually there will be a true world sx series and the schedule will be so demanding that there will be very little chance of riders racing a full season of outdoor mx too .

If he feels that way, it's sad for the sport. But he has been riding for 15 years of so, and I'm sure it was eve worse before, and that didn't stop him. I get the impression he uses this as an excuse and the real reason is what 500guy say.

Who can blame him? Work less for that amount of cash? Sign me in!

Usually you are right on but RV is not worthy of carrying Stewart's jock strap indoors or out. Stewart would go 24-0 if he rode outdoors this summer. RV did not dominate the outdoors in the Lites last year. Do you really think he could beat Stewart??? Give me a Break!!!!

Did you guys check out the comments in the Vital MX Perspective this week? James told me he wants to do the races. He even joked about going for 48-0. Right now it sounds like the ball's in the team owner/management court.

Not sure what races you were watching but RV won every moto that he did not wreck in except the first one. He always had a big lead at the end of the motos. One moto he caught Dungey and was having trouble getting around. He tipped over and handed it to Dungey. Other than that one and the first one at Glen Helen he was without a doubt the man in the Lites class.

But to think that RV didn't dominate outdoors last season is a bit crazy. No, I'm not hinting he can beat stewart but he did dominate the outdoors last season.

Some of you cats have had too many sack hits to the chin if you think RV won't be giving JBS fits sonner than later. Let's just hope we can see some epic battles.

Maybe that is the reason. Who could blame him for feeling strongly about it? But, if he aims to get into nascar he'll have to overcome it. Not everybody likes one another in this world. Black, white, euro, asian, middle eastern, fat, bald and, ugly,,,,you name it somebody somewhere will make up their mind to at least dislike you over it. They will rationalize it somehow and then feed it to their kids. Hate begats hate. Jesus ain't in it.

racism is still alive in america...quite large it seems too. lotta white punk rednecks love dirt bikes...doesn't take a brainiac to see the connection, hell look no further than a few members on this board.

I still want to know what the "numerous records" are that he broke?

I can't think of one...besides the 125 wins.
4/24/2009 5:32am
So when Reed had the exact contracty that James has, was it racism because he was an Ozzy?

He isnt racing the nationals because he doesnt want to. Why risk injury or wearing out his body for something he already has done for absolutly no more salary ?
4/24/2009 5:32am
ive actually noticed alot more black (is that politically correct?) people attending the nationals. i think its good for our sport.
but its also good for our sport if we dont have the same guy winning every race...
