2011 YZ125 or 2012 150sx

Edited Date/Time 3/19/2019 10:17am
so im looking to buy one of these bikes, i have found them both for $3000 which in australia seems to be a good deal to me, which bike in your opinion would be the best one to go for?

Also im not 100% sure that the 150sx is actually a 2012 model as i don't recall them having a orange frame till 2015 unless this one has been painted so do any of you guys know from these pictures if the ad is honest? i asked for the vin number but he couldn't find it, however he is young so either its been painted over or he actually couldn't find it.

Those radiator covers are off a 2009 or 2010 model. Definitely not a 2012 model

Yeah thought that may be the case, so the yz could be the better option, I actuslly just found an 08 yz125 for 2500 which could be good considering there the same bike.

I would take either of the yz's over that ktm.

In general the yamaha will have better suspension, the ktm will have better motor and brakes. The 2012 onwards ktm has the better chassis but the yz is still pretty good

My son had a variety of Yamaha 125's over the yrs. NEVER a lick of trouble. That year of Yamaha you are looking at has the good SSS KYB's. I would buy the Yamaha for the suspension and reliability. High quality pistons are reasonable too. That was only are real $$ maintenance, pistons. Bottom ends were bulletproof. We left ours stock other than a pipe on a few of them.

i think you guys have convinced me to grab the yamaha and save $500, to be honest im not fast so i wouldnt even need the extra power the 150 has.

You won't be disappointed in the YZ125.

The KTM has a better front brake and a little more power.
They YZ is so much better in suspension that a lot of us prefer that bike.

Upgrade the YZ brakes with the Galfer fixed (non-floating) wave rotor kit, that's the best mod you can do to the YZ.
When you get faster and want more torque put a VF-3 reed in the engine before you buy a pipe.
