What a battle!! Forgot how good this race was and also how much better SX racing was with 2-strokes. Ricky and Chad were using every bit of the track during that race. Fun to watch. Reed was definitely at his best on the 250 2-stroke.

Look at how costly mistakes used to be. Took a lot of momentum away and cost riders several seconds.

That was an insane battle though. They seemed to anticipate each others moves aswell.

Watched that too over the weekend. Damn those factory 2-strokes (with those guys at the controls) were fun to watch!

Bummer RC tore his ACL leading up to the '04 season. Would have been another epic season between those two.

That was great, thank you. The racers and bikes haves progressed, the commentating and production has gone backwards.

Why would anyone want technical, precise, skillful racing when we can watch everyone ride around in 3rd gear and quad everything? Whistling

Actually, no one's even doing that right now because we have tracks like Atlanta that seem to be missing 10 truck loads of dirt...

Never seen that one before, that was an awesome race. You have to think that a couple of mechanics needed a change of shorts after RC made that pass right in front of them.

This got me thinking about Chad Reed's career. Until I typed it out I didn't realize how long this guy has been at it and how successful he's been.

Great skills but I honestly prefer the 4 strokes. Tracks were definitely better then that’s for sure But do the modern 4 stroke bikes have so much power they make the tracks one lined some what just due to them chewing the track out so much compared to those ol 2 strokes. Edit sorry not meant to quote last post

I was at this race, it was awesome! I remember the whoops were huge in practice and they cut them down for the night show.

And look how close the points were for Reed. Less than a race worth if points from being a 6x champ. That’s got to burn, a competitive guy like Reed.

Ricky should get some bonus points for wearing that live feed helmet cam!

The segment of the race where they cut to the helmet cam and stop talking so you can listen to the sounds of the bike is great. I know we get similar video through the gopro footage but its never live.

If they could pull it off in 2005, they should be able to do it today without it being as much of a pain as something Ricky had to wear, or even Steve...
