I don’t doubt that Reed is one of the all-time greats, or that there haven’t been races where he was unbeatable. His numbers and stats speak for themselves and his legacy is sealed. But he never beat RC for a title, and he never beat James for one when they both raced the entire series together. Same with the Ryan’s, Reed never beat them for a title in sx. I’m a Dungey fan more so than RV, but RV clearly had Dungey’s number in sx when they raced together with the possible exception of 2010. That, along with titles and wins is why I’d place the aforementioned racers ahead of Reed on that list.

Bull shit he beat JS and RD. He just didn’t win the title, he was beaten by RV. BUT HE DID beat JS AND RD!!
It’s not bullshit. I’m talking about titles as I clearly stated for the reason why I’d place Dungey ahead of Reed. Stewart and Reed are tied on titles, but Reed never beat Stewart for a title when they both raced the entire series together. Reed won his titles when RC was out and when Stewart was out, whereas RC won his titles when Reed was there, and Stewart did as well.

Then when someone refutes it, you redefine it.
And when you look at seasons, in 2011 Reed was 2nd to RV, 4 points back, but beat both Dungey and Stewart.
Name one time — one time — Reed beat Stewart for the title when they both raced the entire series. I haven’t redefined anything here, I’ve just stated some easily provable facts. I’m not talking about single races; hell, Dungey beat RV in single races in sx but it’s undisputed that RV had the upper hand and was the better racer when they competed together. I’m talking about titles and number of wins.

This is a thread celebrating Chad's career and his amazing stats. Anyone who wants to refute these stats or compare them to others or try and belittle them should fuck off. There's multiple other threads where you can hate on him. In here though, we celebrate.

The who's better argument between RC, CR, JS, RV & RD can go around in circles forever. If someone doesn't agree, they just change the goal posts like the Reed haters here.
However there is one major difference between Reed and the rest, one which can't be overstated;
All his peers, the legends of SX are American. They succeeded at home, with the backing of their family, after being semi-professional juniors with established sponsors and money.
Reed came from a poor family on the other side of the world, left on his own, still as a kid, just him and his girlfriend. Came to the states, where he's beat the world's best at their own game and still doing it on his own terms seventeen years later.
Doesn't matter who your favourite rider is, I honestly don't understand how you can be a fan of this sport and not be a fan of Reed's career and achievements.

Yeah I don't think anyone gets how fucking different the sport is here and from what little he came from and took it too possibly 4 of the 6 giants of the modern era (RC, JS, RV, RD – MC and CR included).

You're both arguing different points.

Winning the title, he didn't. Toro is saying he did finish higher in the title rankings than Stewart and RD in 2011, but missed the title to RV. He was better in 12 and 14 too until the injuries, and better in 11 outdoors until the Chadapault.

Hence circle jerking ratings between them can be a matter of perspective.

Which always makes me wonder how in the fuck anyone rates RD above RV haha.
