Kx450f forks

Considering buying a 2017 kx450f, I know I’m not going to be patient enough to mess with the air fork. Has any one successfully swapped sss forks on one? Do you need different lugs? Or 2012 kx450 forks and did those just “bolt right on” (I’m concerned with fork lug offset, axle diameter, forks physically sliding into the triple clamps correctly, overall length/basic exterior dimensions being the same etc..) any usable info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i bought a set of 2008 aoss forks and those bolt right on.

I bought an 18 and put in the race tech spring conversion kit. I was told these forks are actually a lot better than the old ones, I had a set off a 250f and still went with the kit. They actually work pretty good with stock valving this way.

Did you notice/check if the axle centerline to fork leg centerline was was the same? I done want to change the way the bike handles in a negative way. What was your overall impression with the swap

Buy a set of KXF450 forks from 2009-2012 and these are the same as SSS forks (except for valving) and will bolt right on. They are all the same KYB internals and you can have ENZO, Factory Connection, etc set them up to work awesome.

2012 KX450F forks fit spot on...the length might be a tad shorter (5mm but I can’t remeber for sure).

I used a set on my 2016 KXF450 that I bought off eBay. They were already set up by ENZO and I swear I think they were better than the Cone Valve forks I have on my Husky.

Cool. I would just hate to buy some forks then not have them work haha.

I have some 2012 kx 450 forks, they are actually 5mm longer than 16-18 forks

A good buddy ran 2012 forks on his 2016 before it went boom. With that said, I do have an A kit on my 16 (which will be for sale shortly), as well as the A kit (separately). PC will set it up for you for cheaper than a standard revalve, and they actually just went through the forks a few weeks ago and i've only been able to ride once since then.

Shock/Forks/Clamps 2300 bucks shipped to your door. Easily turn this around and sell them for damn near the same price when your done.I may consider keeping the shock to use the internals on a 2019.

I’ll keep you in mind once I get the bike. What is your valving set up for?

I had a 2012 and never liked the forks on that bike, even had them revalved twice, i have a 2016 now with just air and I like the forks except on hard pack tracks, I'm tempted to do the spring conversion but don't know if it's worth it. Some say they work really nice with the spring conversion. Wonder if the 19 forks would fit?

I have the TAC fork on my 17 RMZ which is supposedly not set up as well as the Kawi out of the box. I was like many and was apprehensive about the air because it was getting trashed on forums and magazines.

I revalved it with Racetech Gold Valves and set it up for me (like any bike I get). I added the SKF glide kit and SKF fork seals while I was in there and honestly, the fork is great. I have zero complaints about the performance of the fork once the setup was done. I run Racetechs recommended pressures and its spot on. All I deal with now is minor damping clicker changes track to track. Its not a hunk of shit like everyone makes it out too be. It needs proper setup like any fork. Checking the air takes 1 min tops and its not that serious.

Spring conversion and racetech gold valves (or whichever suspension tuner you use) great fork with the spring in it.
