There were no yellow markers or Acerbis barriers on the grass, an oversight given all of the chaos the morning rain caused. Reed saw it and used it in the first moto too, then RJ Hampshire used the same spot to grab the holeshot in the second 250 moto, just like he did at the MXGP of the USA last September.

Chad told me afterwards he couldn't believe that the first four guys to pick gates for the second moto passed on that spot, and John Tomac right there for that second 250 moto start. It was a risky line but Chad and RJ both made it work. just like Herlings in France. Good for them for spotting a line like that...
