I recently picked up my dream bike and am still in the process of completing the restoration. Of course I am having the toughest time with getting an original fuel tank. I have the big Clark, and I do have the original but someone tried painting it and then sanding it. Anyone know of a good place to find an original tank. The gold rims are a little rough too.

Thanks all...

Welcome to the board!
Ebay is a great resource for used parts. There are a few tanks for your bike on there now. Great bike btw! Post up some pics before you tear into it. If you are looking for nos rims, good luck. Best to go with aftermarket.

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like I am just going to send the original tank that someone tried to paint to the plastics renovations. Looks like he does good work. Then after some new rims, the bike should be done.

One of my customers will be selling this bike cheap or parting out- if you need anything.

Had an 87 as my first race bike and loved it. Actually raced it until 1991. Just bought an 86 because it qualifies for Rev1 vintage class. Just received a set of new gold Excel wheels and stainless spokes from Dubya for it. PNW vintage is talking about having a 5 race series named the David Bailey cup racing 82-86 CR125/250 so that has me pretty excited!

An 85 CR125 was my first race bike and then I had an 86. I moved up to 250's in 90 with a YZ. Many other CR's throughout the years. Definitely can't wait to start again. I also just tuned up a 98 WR400 I found. Actually haven't been on the dirt in about 10 years. My last was an RM250. Just love the 80's stuff and the 87 was my favorite. That David Bailey cup racing thing does sound like a blast.
