Best way out for GM. Not for unions and creditors.

Yep. And I'm a Chevy guy as well. That is the only way they can survive.

I don't know, but I'd bet the government is dangling the spectre of bankruptcy out there as leverage to get the union to make some big concessions. Union wages for current workers aren't the problem, the problem is 450,000 retiree pensions, and the fact that the retiree situation will never go away unless the union contract changes. If I was negotiating, I'd tell the union the current workers are going to have to agree to 401Ks (funded by existing pension accruals, I'll bet a lot of those guys will find out their 401Ks will start off with $150K+) and the government is going to help fund the existing pension plan. And current employees should have to agree that, if they retire early, they get COBRA insurance like the rest of the world, too. And if they dig their heels in the sand, all the government has to do is refuse any further support, GM will go Chapter 11, and a judge will impose a new union contract. Simple as that.

But GM isn't going out of business. No way. I doubt Chrysler will, either.

We shouldn't waste another penny and our leaders should encourage GM to file. We have already wasted close to 20 billion. The fact that the UAW hasn't already the proper concessions that could save the company is reason enough for me to tell them to hit the road.

Let's hope it is followed shortly by our government declaring bankruptcy so that congress has to accept concessions on their retirement and benefits.

And I am not an american auto or union man.......

Unions have fucked their members and the companies with the big double ended dildo of greed and power. No country for old men. GM can sink along with a bunch of other bankrupt companies. Its a new world, best embrace it before it rolls you.
