I'm pretty sure we all got your point the first, seventh, tenth, and twentieth time you made it.

You think there should have been 20 guys in the main. Got it.

The posts I like reading aren't the ones where people repeatedly voice their opinion. It's usually from the ones who feel what they say is important enough to say once, and then to not have to repeat it.

Here's what Jason had to say about it on Saturday night. "In the second practice, I came across the finish line and it was a long straight with a tons of rocks right there. My teammate was right in front of me, and he was throwing out a mean roost. I tried to do a quick zig through it, it I wouldn’t get it too bad, but it was inevitable. I just got pelted. I got a few across my knuckles, all in my chest, and one big one must have gotten the top of my hand and made it nearly impossible to make a fist."

Couple things;

The rider earned the spot, whether he chooses to race it or not.

This matters because the rider will receive both 20th place points, purse money AND contingency monies from sponsors and event sponsors.

The rider earned that money because he raced to get it.

Even with a DNS, that rider earned the 20th place finish he will get scored...earned it and therefore deserves his payments for that 20th place finish.

I thought you had to finish at least one lap to earn purse money?

Maybe I just made that up though.

that makes sense but they should still allow non qualifying riders to race if there are spots with the clause that no points, cash etc will be given to a non qualfied racer in a qualified raceregardless of how they place. i think the winner of the LCQ would be a prime candidate becuse he already got his gas card and he came to race. two reasons i say this is 1) to allow riders to showcase their talents for possible future sponsors later and 2) a FULL gate means better racing for the fans.

With no points and no cash for a non-qualified rider, what's the incentive to go out and put in 20 laps worth of risk and wear and tear on the equipment?

How about if they ended up on the podium? Do they not get to keep the trophy, too? Wink

I like the idea of full gates, but I'm not sure that's the way to go about it.

Not sure if the same rules apply for MX, SX as flat track. However in flat track there are no alternates for the main event. Several reasons; most important it could become a bidding war for a transfer. If the title came down to the last race and Reed or Stewart missed the main by one spot, what would that final transfer be worth$$$

I'm not arguing, Bobby. I'm doing what I normally do. Lay out any info that I have, and then step away. It's a posting style that I wish more users here would adopt.

or wrap arounds ? Wrap arounds are banned in AMA mx races. Seen a few guys scramble to get those off at a few am. races after they showed up in staging with
them on.
I did not know about the handguard rule, but its stupid if it exists. There are no performance advantage to a offroad style handguard other than safety.

give it to the 3rd place guy in the lcq. and still let him have the gas card he won. its that guys lucky night.
what about heats? there were gates open in the 250 heats... why not give that to the 41st and 42nd fastest qualifier? why wouldnt they want full gates? pretty dumb. there are people out there that really want to be in there.

The gate could have been empty cause the riders bike blew up going to staging. Happened before. No time to fill the gate.....their bikes are WAYYYY different then any of ours. Need to be primed and ready for 20 laps not just run up to the start and take off

Think of it this way. What if we were talking about Chad having a breakdown in the heat sending him to the LCQ, then in the LCQ he crashes and comes in 3rd. He doesn't qualify for the main and it would drastically change the points race. Now, if someone that qualified for the main were not able to make it (say a teammate, like oh Mike for example) Reed should then get the slot?

A few years back @ St Lou Pastrana qualified in both classes & didn't show for the then 250 class gate. The rule has been in place for a long time.
