Since when did they hand out points for qualifying times and races?

It doesn't matter.

He split moto's on a sand track with Herlings... That's the facts.

Are you going to take away that he smoked everyone in MXGP at Glenn Helen because he qualified like 5th but flew past everyone after two terrible starts like they were standing still?

They have raced one real race together so far (Cant count ironman as tomac was obviously putting around)

It was on a sand track and Herling's won.

Shut up until October.

Did you actually watch the first moto of the USGP? It was all about the start. Starts count, sure, but Herlings started outside the top 10 and was never in contact with the lead. You're making it sound as if they raced head to head or Tomac ran Herlings down. Speaking of that ...

"Cant count ironman as tomac was obviously putting around"

Right. Tomac won the holeshot in the first moto at Ironman, and Herling blew by him same as he used to blow by the MX2 field, same as he blows by the MXGP field now. Tomac crashed trying to respond. Those are the real facts.

Now, we can agree that Tomac played it safe in the second moto -- fair enough, I would've too -- but Herlings' charge from 39th was still a pretty impressive run. Let's say it all again: "Dropped in on short notice, borrowed bike, never seen the circuit before, won both motos." Show me someone else pulling that stunt. Anybody!

It is amazing to me that people still make excuses for the entire AMA field at Ironman '17, but here we are. At RedBud -- after Herlings wins his qualifying race and two motos -- it'll be more of the same, I guess.

He ran the same pace or even faster than Tomac on numerous occasions last season, and a couple of times this season

This is stupid.

Herlings "blew by him"?

He passed him in a corner. Tomac then stayed right on his ass and lost his front end attempting to go around the outside of him (could happen to anyone) If he pulled 2-4 seconds in those 2 laps then you could say "he blew by him" but he did not, Tomac and Herlings were riding a very similar pace for those 2 laps. It was a softer corner and he knifed the front...

If you're so sure Herlings will beat Tomac at Redbud both moto's put $50.00 on it.

Woohoo

There have only been 3 motos this year where Marvin had a faster lap time than Eli and one of them was the 2nd Moto at Red Bud when Eli was stuck in traffic the whole race. The first moto Tomac was 3 seconds a lap faster before his bike blew up.

Every other moto Tomac has been faster and most of the time it's by 2 or more seconds a lap. Conditions have to be almost perfect for Marv to run Eli's pace. Yet he matched Herlings 2 motos in a row.

As mentioned previously by other posters, Tomac can hang with Herlings the difference between the two is Herlings legitimately wants to win every race he enters and will do everything he can to make that happen, after he gets in front he wants to gap the field, that's something Tomac has lacked throughout his career however he seems mentally stronger this mx series, for the moment Tomac lacks that RC/RV and JS7 grit.

I literally had to LOL at this. It's amazing how much people get worked up over fucking dirt bike racing/racers that they don't have any control over, or have shit to do with in general. Its like people fighting at football games and shit. You'd think some of these guys are personally vested in their rider of choice. Personal attacks and attacks on an entire nation of people because they think their rider of choice is better? I'm all up for some nudging and general banter, but that shit is beyond stupid. However, it is entertaining I guess Laughing Laughing

Pls stop with that, i can say the same about the Herlings fans...

"it comes to riding technique Herlings' got him covered."

Yes this is why ET is one of the best SX rider i guess...

Tomac vs Herlings at Daytona could give the answer but unfortunately, it will never happen...

Edit : I forget a fact : Tomac 2018 is way better than Tomac 2017.

"Yes this is why ET is one of the best SX rider i guess... " How many SX titles has he got again? He is far from the best SX riders.

Also I don't get why you say Herlings to go race Daytona SX, like asking Tomac to go race Kalib Russell at GNCC.

Also how is 2018 Tomac better than 2017 Tomac, he is legit doing what he did last year?

Tomac himself has said he is better this year, mainly because the bike is better compared to last year.

This two stop the bullet in Red Bud; Tomac and Barcia
Tomac I think he's going to win Herlings in Red Bud and maybe Barcia too, if he does the same race he did this year
