Hi all, as title states I’m looking for a set of forks that are a direct fit for a 2004 YZ250.

That could work as I’ll get them revalved anyway, I forgot to mention that I’m based in the UK. I know most of you guys on here are in the U.S so postage may be an issue lol..

I can ship them if you pay for it- I was looking for about ~200usd - I could include gytr triple clamps with no steering stem for the asking price

I would look to upgrade to the SSS forks from 06 and onwards. Much better forks.

05 forks will require 05+ triple clamps and steering stop modification on an 04- best to do the Triple S forks if going that route

04 triples will accept the newer forks, including the SSS ones.

Pretty sure 04 clamps are 48mm, so they should slide right in with no modifications. Not 100% if the caliper hanger is the same size, but they can be had for $30 on eBay.

Also, I have the stock triples and caliper hanger off the 05.

04 YZ250 was the only year that had the same diameter as the newer forks. I currently have that year YZ250, a 05 YZ125, and a 08 YZ450 that I've interchanged forks with. There are some differences in triple clamp spacing, but as long as you use the correct axle spacers, it all works fine.

Ah thanks, that’s great to know. Makes my life a little easier when looking for forks! Do you have an idea on what size the spacers ill need for the YZF forks are? Also, how do you go about routing the front brake line as the YZF forks don’t have the guide on the bottom of the fork?

I did the swap on my 04 about 5 years ago.

Used a set of 06 SSS forks in the 04 triples. Straight fit. You'll need an axle nut from an 06, but I didn't need to change any spacers or anything else.

It's a great upgrade.

I ran an entire 08 450 front end on my son's 05 125, then used just the forks and wheel on my 04 250, no spacers needed. I haven't tried using the aluminum frame's triple clamps on my steel frame as I believe the steering stops are slightly different.

If you used clamps from an aluminum framed bike, you need to weld material onto your frame. If you don’t, you risk sheering the end of your off if the steering stops on the lower clamp hit it hard.

Hey Matt! Sorry to bring up an old subject haha but...am I right in thinking that the only thing I need to run SSS forks on my ‘04 250 is the axle nut for the front wheel and that’s it!??

Memory is a touch foggy on the specifics, but I think I used the 04 axle and nut, 04 triple clamps with the 08 forks on the 04 YZ250.

Sorry to bring up an old thread everyone! I’ve been offered a set of SSS forks from a 2009 YZF250.
Will these bolt up on my 2004 YZ250?
I know there’s lots of stuff around regarding the SSS conversion but I’ve heard that it’s easier for me as mines the 2004?
