Ktm front axle swaping

I bought a used 2014 KTM 450 xcf in October of 2014. It's been an awesome bike and I have no complaints . The previous owner obviously took care of it. I recently went to replace the front axle nut and it's too big, as in it won't thread into the axle. I've heard of KTM axle swaps but I'm confused. Did the previous owner switch to the smaller axle? (It also has Warp9 wheels and spacers.) If so why? I've heard one way or the other changes the handling characteristics.

I am a Vet desert Rider with decent skills. Should I leave it the way it is? Or go back to the larger axle setup? If so, what do I need to do that? Thanks

KTM used to have an axle they sold in the hard parts catalog that you can change offset of the wheel with, maybe that's the axel you have, rekluse makes a version of it now.

The forks are still 4cs so I do not believe so. Just some internal Fork mods.

Any idea how to tell if that's what I have?
