Lake Whitney Racing to start up at 1:30

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 12:57am
Chris says it stopped raining before 10:30 this morning, and is not the muddiest he has ever seen a track. Nevertheless, they are starting the first race at 1:30 pm today, and it will go Schoolboy, 450 Open then 45 Sr plus and they will be shaving 1 lap off every race to catch up.

More in a bit.

Whitney can take a lot of rain and still hold up well.

I think you're getting the "AMATEUR" info. Races are on the audio , and racers already on track.

It's not so much about catching up but because of the mud, the lap times were going to be longer ... so that was why the took a lap off.

The event isn't running behind, because they built a full extra day into the event. Absolutely a brilliant move on behalf of the McWilliams!

At 1:30, bikes were moving to the gate ... but then it really started raining.

So, to make it fair and safe and probably a little more comfortable for everyone racing and watching ... it has been called for the day. Many thanks guys!!!!

We know we have a couple more days of this, it's on the radar .... but it is an outdoor sport and every once in awhile, it just ends up being this way. So, we are all taking our time doing rejetting and getting bikes ready for tomorrow ....

No reason to complain .... we all chose to be here "rain or shine" ....

They worked the track into race shape, but when the rains started the 450's could not make it up the hill. The hills were cut out, but by that time it was coming down and the safety personnel advised against running the motos. Good call, there will always be tomorrow.

I'm a little confused with the few motos they put on that ruined the cap and now having ruts that are holding the rain on the track. That being said, I know you can't please everyone all the time, but more importantly these are some of the nicest promotors and crew I've ever seen, and the rest of their operations are top-notch. Pray, cross your fingers (or whatever you do) for better weather because these people (and racers) deserve it.

Yep, the McWilliams are really very cool. Sometimes the weather doesn't work out, we will have some photos and a write up coming here shortly.
